| Chapter 2: Desert Creature A journey full of surprises and adventure awaits Demon, he was getting closer and closer to the desert but had his cape ready in case it would get stormy. “Uh-oh, just my luck, right when I head out a sandstorm is coming!” said Demon muttering. He had no time to lose and continued to walk further but the sand was blowing a lot his way and the wind was getting too powerful so he had to take shelter. He could see a cave from a distance so he was heading over there but suddenly he heard some weird noises coming near the cave 'Growl---~~~, growl!!!'. 'What the hell was that?!' Demon wondered. Now he could hear stamping as the unknown danger came closer “GROWL!!!!' 'Stamp! Stamp! Stamp!' Running at high speed it aimed towards Demon. He was too shocked to even move because of the size of the creature was HUGE 'BAM!' going all rampaging to Demon it knocked him out in one hit. By the time Demon woke up and tried to look around, he was already getting dragged into the cave but it was dark he couldn't see that clearly. The boy's head was hurting so much it was bleeding most likely the injury he got when that monster attacked him. He was wondering where this strange creature was bringing him. Demon tried to stay calm thinking of a way out.'Growl! ...GROWL!!!' he heard. He heard those same noises again, 'Snarl---~! SNARL!!!'. He looked aside of him, he was surprised by what he could see the first thing he saw were his big feet with sharp claws on it, it's a four-footer. The size of the creature was intimidating. Then when he looked up a bit he could see that the monster had a weird lizard like head with really BIG teeth, it's tongue was sticking out of it's mouth. The smell he had was just horrible, the monsters tail was holding Demon by his jacket in it's mouth, it had thorns all over it's body except for his back. 'Ah, Ha! I've got a way to get out!' Said Demon. The monster used it's tail to throw Demon as food to the young’s, they seemed quite hungry and were ready to tear him apart. Demon was getting nervous and had to escape but he had to wait for a good opportunity. The monster wanted to grab his arm but Demon kicked it out of the way and ran as fast as he could to the exit of the cave, he could see the light shining into the cave, just a little bit further. Fast stamping could be heard Demon knew that it was chasing him, once he got out of the cave he climbed his way up the cave waiting for the creature to come outside. Once the monster was out of the cave it was being cautious. It was looking in all directions from left to right but then all of a sudden at the right moment it was Demon who jumped down from the cave onto it's back. Then he tried to stand stable on the back of the beast and started punching continuous until it was screaming out of pain, the beast was suffering. Demon began to notice that the monster was getting weaker and unable to move so he stopped attacking and jumped off it’s back. It was dying, it was only making some hard breathing noises then he realized that it only wanted to protect her baby's but instead ended up dead. 'I think I should drag this huge body to the city and see if it's worth something but I guess it's already getting late I might as well stay the night here' said Demon. When night falls he set up a camp fire and thought about earlier that day, he sliced off a piece of tail and roasted it on the fire.”Why didn’t I realize it before…?” He couldn't sleep anymore because he killed an animal out of self defense, “I’ll try not think about it, but it was for my own protection” he said the he mumbled 'I could have ran away' then on second thought he said 'I guess I shouldn't have pity on it, it could have attacked other people' were his thoughts, eventually he fell asleep. The next morning when he woke up right before dawn he had to move out otherwise the heat would get him all exhausted but dragging this monster with him will cost him his strength. Demon had not much of a choice so he had to bear with it and while he was walking he thought “I wonder what kind of town lies ahead, the world is so strange”. After hours of walking in the lonely desert he finally saw some kind of flag which probably means that there's a city/town nearby, 'Almost there, I could use some rest when I arrive, this thing is just a burden I need to get rid of it fast' said Demon. Demon noticed something 'What's this? The heat is decreasing... I feel relieved' He sighs dejectedly and moved on. After a while he could see the big city of "Wastyr" There was a huge gate he could see and high town walls blocking his sight and so he said “ So this is it, huh? Wonder what it looks inside”. He was getting pretty excited because he had never seen anything like this it's like a whole new world that opened right before his very eyes. Once he arrived near the gate the guard's who were guarding it told him to stop before entering the city. 'Stop right there! No trespassers are allowed to go in the city' Said one of the guards. Demon had an awkward look on his face like 'Huh?! And why is that?' he asked. The guards noticed the monster he dragged with him and they observed it and said 'Oh, you must be a Bounty Hunter, we humbly apologize please move on' 'Oh, okay' said Demon and he passes through the gate. One of the guards shouted “Hey kid! Wait, next time you come through you should bring your license with you!” then Demon answered back “Yeah, I’ll try to keep that in mind!”. When Demon passed through the gate the first thing he did was taking a deep breath. He went to look around in town to see what other things there were he left the beast with the guards because he can't walk around with a thing that big so he cut off it's head to proof he killed it so he could show it to the Guild master. The Town looked so big Demon felt as If he could be lost anytime, the houses looked pretty modern they were made of some kind of iron. He asked the people around where he would be able to find the Guild although he rather scared the people somewhat with the ugly disgusting head of the creature he was carrying that he slaughtered. The city people looked wealthy so Demon said “They all seem to have a good life but I’m not so sure what to believe…” he then walked pass all kinds of shops even Magic shops, weapon and armor shops! Demon had never seen something like that, he didn't even knew what "Magic" was “magic… Wonder what that is. All the people around him seemed pretty happy, they were just doing their daily work. There wasn't much time left before the sun was almost set so he hurried to the Guild, he also got almost lost when taking the wrong turn “I’m so lucky they have a couple of signs in the streets” he said. When Demon reached the Guild he could see a mysterious character running out being chased by a bunch of violent hunters, of course Demon just ignored it and went inside the Guild hoping that they could provide him with some more information. From the outside it didn't even look like a Guild more like an old shed, but once inside it was almost like a pub for drunken people then again it looked trendy as well. All kinds of different people he saw, some even looked unhuman and Demon thought “What a bunch of creeps… Best not to make trouble inside here.” Then a loud voice said 'Ah! We've heard of you from the guards who have said you have caught the Desert creature! Well, good job my lad' said the Guild master. It was the man at the counter who addressed to Demon. Demon looked around a bit more before he approached the Guild Master, he was thinking 'This building looks much bigger from the inside than the outside'. It had luxury around all over the place.” Then he gave a late reply back to the Guild master and said 'De...Desert creature?' questioningly, the Guild master answered with 'You look confused, that monster was attacking people so he went on the blacklist and it looks like you've killed it' The Guild master gave him the reward, 'I get money for this? asked Demon again. 'Of course that's what Bounty hunters are for, are you here to sign up?’ Asked the man. Demon was speechless for a moment and then answered 'Actually, yeah that's why I came here for, I think?' The man took a good look at Demon and could see he was been traveling for a while and he looked pretty young as well and said “Good, You just have to fill in some papers first” Demon got a pen handed over and wrote down some information about himself then he gave the papers back and he got a license handed over. The Guild Master then showed him someone from the wanted list and said 'You see this? He's a wanted thief, I want you to bring him back alive there's a nice reward to it' Demon observed it a bit and said 'It's just a kid? ...I guess I have no choice but to accept this'. 'There you go' said the Guild master. Demon walked out the Guild and went to look for an Inn, there were several Inns around so he just went to a decent one, he got something to eat and heard some rumors around. 'Hey! there's a nice reward for the thief' Whispered a man to the other. 'Yeah, I heard he/she was pretty tricky' said the other man, 'Keep your voice down! Someone might hear us, and besides it's just a kid it couldn't be a tough task.' was what the man said full of confidence. Demon was thinking when he was sitting at the bar about the mysterious character earlier, 'Could that be the one they are talking about? The thief?' were Demon's thoughts. The barkeeper then said 'You look tired you should get some sleep' and he replied back with 'You're probably right' said Demon. He went to bed and kept thinking about the mysterious person from earlier, he was looking forward to it. |
