Any word yet on who is going to pick up the OVA? I tried checking up on the groups that did the original release, but two of them had bad website URL's, and eclipse, who I would really like to see pick this up, doesn't usually make any formal announcements about upcoming series. GG has also made no announcement about it.

No surprise that Eclipse is struggling for time considering they are doing 4 shows right now. Can't really complain though since 3 of them are excellent.

Haha, they're even doing 5 if you count the Claymore DVD releases. Hopefully they'll pick this one up soon, but it will be a while before they finish the one's they're working on, so maybe at the end of Winter season?

Why are they doing the dvd releases if they already did the episodes?

I'm not sure, but I don't think they had originally subbed the series. Someone else would have to verify that however.

Edit: My mistake, you appear to be quite correct. Maybe they just wanted the higher quality DVD release version? I would assume they would have to change the encodes very minimally from the TV release, so it probably takes substantially less time.

Simple. Because the DTV captures/raws weren't very pretty.

Is it worth it to download the DVD releases if you already have the previous ones they did? Is it that much better in quality?

That's why I opened a topic about the DVD versions, so people don't have to ask. (:

Nevermind, I linked you to the wrong topic. I must've been tired at that time, sorry about that.

But anyway, yes. Usually the DVD episodes are better in quality. Color enhancements, higher sharpness, and better displaying of dark bits.

Back on topic, a Manabi episode 6.5 has just been subbed by anonymous. Can be found on TokyoToshokan as usual. I'm still downloading so I can't say what it is like. But my questions is: is that episode 6.5 OVA material or something else?

Yes, I believe that it is the one and only OVA of the series. The OVA takes place just before the actual planning on the festival.

I'm not planning to do a hardsubbed release at any point, as I unfortunatly don't have access to a machine that can do decent quality encodes in a reasonable amount of time.

I don't like mkv files myself either. I burn all my anime to dvd's cause my dvd player plays mpeg's and having them in mkv format just makes me convert them. It's a hassle. Especially when I don't ever care about the English audio they tag in along with the Japanese.

I don't have a problem with mkvs but the OVA ep that was released is lagging on my sister's PC. She'd love to see it but I guess there's no way now.

Alternatively, you could just connect your PC to the TV directly. Also, only groups that rip R1 DVD's include English audio. Real fansubbers don't do that.

I have a program to convert mkv files and choose which audio to keep, so converting them is just a timesink. It's easier than connecting my PC to the TV. I've done this OVA for a few people by now as well. I just prefer avi's myself.

Yup, I just saw an xvid release hit Tokyo Toshokan a couple hours ago thanks for the heads up!

So if you were one of the people waiting on it, go grab it and enjoy some Manabi goodness!

I like avis due to their AMV usage.
