Couldn't find the right wording for the title and have checked in suggestions if this had been raised(but couldn't find it) so apologies in advance if it has. Anyways, is there any chance we can have an extra field in the anime information section where it tells us from what chapter of the adaptation starts and where it ends for the anime.

Take for example:
Berserk - Starts at Vol 3, Chap 4 and Ends at Vol 13, Chap 6
Bamboo Blade - Starts at Volume 1, Chapter 1 and Ends at Volume 6, Chapter 57

I've asked these type of questions in forums before to which, I may or may not get an answer from. I believe it helps a lot as I'm pretty sure(like everyone else) would like to read what happens next when an anime they happen to like has an abrupt or open ending and does not want to have to go through every volume or chapter just to find out where the anime left off(specially if they read online)

..thx

Although it would be a nice feature, albeit one down the list of priorities - what would you do with manga that have different chapters in their english and japanese version?

I didn't think there was a big difference between Japanese to English? I've actually got Berserk from vol.1-8 on paperback as well as other manga and have been told they are pretty much the same as their Japanese counterparts.

Baka-Updates has this feature and is usually where I end up going to to find out where to start reading the adaptations from, but considering I've started to use MAL more often as it correlates both manga and anime, I think this feature would be a great added bonus.

And if you'll notice in a few series discussions in forum, it's not the first time someones asked to which chapter they should start from when an anime ended.

Well for now, maybe this could go in the More Info tab of the anime page. I'm not much of a manga reader but I could see that it could be useful.

Off the top of my head, I remember Blade of the Immortal having different chapters for the english and japanese variants. I presume that there must be a number of other officially translated titles like that too. This is usually because of US censorship laws (or, better put, censorship morals).

Other than that I can see problems with where to say a manga adaptions starts and stops. Many series are not literal adaptions and put in a lot of original content, making it quite difficult to say where they "end".

I can see that it might be a useful feature and would find it an interesting addition to MAL; but it's going to be a lot of work at this point for Manga Moderators who will have to check up on the anime adaption schedule of, most likely, more than a thousand manga. For some of the older series we might not even have definite dates.

that's where members can help, just like we've done with adding new anime/manga details and characters....and I don't think you'd need another panel or another tab for something that could easily fit where the info part is:

it's understandable that not all anime stay true to their adaptation, hence why baka-updates leave those series as blank which I'm pretty sure you can do the same, but for series that have been discontinued or have no hope of seeing a second season, I'm pretty sure there would be fans who would love to know at least around what volume or chapter they can pick things up from(eg. skip beat, d.gray-man etc. the list goes on)

...anyways this is more of a suggestion, so thanks for hearing me out
