Box office performance in my country is quite weak and inflation is quite high so I don't even expect a million. Around 500k would be extremely big in my country and I expect it to earn around 100k in Pakistan (which is still extremely big and record breaking for an anime film). It opens on 14th August and a lot of the main seats were booked and they had to increase the number of shows and weeks. I also got my tickets booked for the 2nd day with a group of 10 friends.

One of my friend went to the cinema to get his tickets booked today and the shows were pretty much sold out for the third day. They even went from 3 shows to 11 shows for the first day just due to the unprecedented response 2 weeks before the release. I think this is the most hyped anime film in my country and its absolutely insane for a foreign film. Usually stuff like Marvel and DC performs well here and even cross a million dollars. While I still dont think that it will earn in millions, it will still be respectable.

I also heard that the Taiwanese are waiting in lines for hours just to get their tickets booked. I think the box office there is going to be insane.

I live in Canada so the only theatres that have it are in major cities which is very annoying im not flying or driving 6 hours to a city that has a theatre that has it and im not waiting additional months after that for it to be put on Netflix so I already watched the leak. Same story for many other Canadian’s so I can’t say it’s going to do tremendously well.

@Flixed Hopefully it does. The response seems to be much bigger than expected here. 1 million would still be difficult but again, I hope it does.

@Flixed Same city. You better check out the cinema you want to go to cause the main ones like nueplex and cinepax might be booked for the main shows and main seats. Some cinemas have not opened the booking yet.

@Flixed Yes both branches are amazing. I believe they increased the shows after demand but it might get booked soon. You will have to go there physically to book your tickets. I am going to the askari branch.

@Flixed I dont know if its true or not but one source claimed that it earned nearly 357k USD in Pakistan in its first week. Again I dont know if this is true cause there is no official report. I got to know it from spyIchika on X.

Anyways if lets say that its true, then it is extremely huge. When converted, this translates to just over 100 million Rs. To put it into perspective, Endgame opened with an amazing 145 million Rs opening weekend (Slightly over 1 million USD at that time cause Rs has become alot weaker now just like yen).

Again, I dont know if its true but if it is, then it is mind blowing for an anime film to actually be in such a range. Its easily the biggest opening for an anime film here and quite possibly one of the biggest animated film opening here. It actually competes with extremely popular Hollywood films just like in every other parts of Asia. Its sad that the currency is so weak right now but it definitely has outperformed my expectation if its true.

What the hell is Sony doing in India. The pre bookings are so throttled. Even with more screens, they cant keep up with demand. It has grossed over 50 million India rupees in pre sales alone and expected to do 250 million rupees in pre sales. If they released it on a larger scale and the pre bookings were easier and timely, it would have done so much more already.
