Synopsis

A boy and a girl pledge lifelong friendship in a small town junior high school. The relationship between the two, who are destined to share a common dream, has passed two years without any particular development.

Himari Inuzuka, a bubbly girl who has yet to find her first love, and Yuu Natsume, a plant-loving boy who enjoys flowers, still spend their days peacefully as best friends in the gardening club in the second year of high school.

"If Yuu can't get married, I have to take responsibility."
"I'm having trouble now because after Himari said that, your brother began calling me 'My brother-in-law!'"

However, when Yuu reunites with his first crush, the gears of their relationship suddenly go out of sync! Will Himari be able to escape her "ideal friend" now that she has found love?

Episode 1

Not too sure about this show, though there were some pretty funny moments there. Seeing Rion grabbing Himari by the face while Himari grabbed Rion by the boobs was pretty funny, but so far not a whole lot has been explained other than it looks like Yu and Himari will be the OTP when all is said and done, but will have to navigate through other girls who he forms relationships with. Anyway, looks like it could turn into something good, but I'm not convinced yet.

It's alright. Pretty obvious where it was headed even before new girl showed up.

I just watched it. Comedy-wise, I liked it a lot. It has good comedic timing and style of delivery for cliche rom-com.

The chemistry between Yuu and Himari is really fun. Even Himari's ex and Rion immediately managed to have comical chemistry with her during their short screentime. The VAs also helps with that a lot. And since Himari's brother was implied to be obsessed with Yuu, I can only guess that there will be some comical bits from that.
Although, with an immediate drama coming into play, I'm a bit worried that the comedy aspect would be gradually lessening by the episode.

If this show will be more on comedy for a while before the teenage romance drama hits, I might like it. But if the show starts feeling awkward as comedy with awkward drama timing, I'mma drop it. Gonna give it chance though-- It had a very fun start anyway.

Episode 2

Yu's obsession with making flower accessories continues to build as Yu gets together with Himari and Rion, while Himari's older brother Hibari is introduced as somebody working for a major company. That get together goes to show just how different Himari and Rion are as the former is very outgoing and boisterous always trying to pull one over on Yu, while the latter is shy, but honest and realizes her own shortcomings and stuff. Nevertheless, it's quite funny to see these personalities mix up, and given the show's title they are destined to fail.

This is reminding me a bit of Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki, or at least Yu reminds me of Tomozaki. I guess at least they didn't string along the whole "we met when we were much younger, but I am too afraid to tell you, or we are unaware that the person we see in front of us was the person we met back then" trope. They just got it over with in this episode and one of them said, "yeah, that was me"

I'm interested to see how he's going to preserve something as sizable as a tulip or a hibiscus without making it too weighty.

Also Himari is starting to question her own feelings. Hopefully it moves a little faster than Blue Box in that regard...

Episode 3

With that, Yu has chosen Rion over Himari as the latter is just a friend as he says. For that, Rion is gifted with his latest masterpiece to the girl he is entering a romantic relationship with. Himari really knows how to blow off steam, but even with that they are still friends and nothing more than that.

Argh. If Himari could just be serious for ten minutes she could get what she wants, but she keeps defaulting to defensive clowning.

"Look, I think I have a crush on you and I don't know what to do about it" would work wonders.

Yikes, the animation and character models took a bit of a nose dive in this episode. It was really hard to ignore it.

Episode 4

Last time, Yu has ditched Himari in favor of Rion, and Himari wasn't exactly taking the rejection well. As such, Himari decides to join a talent agency in Tokyo and is planning to move away. Himari's brother Shinji is trying to set her straight, and as it turns out Himari didn't intent to move to Tokyo as this was just a way to make him apologize. But Yu didn't exactly get that message as he made the decision to move to Tokyo himself to be with her. Seeing that those actions had unintended consequences that they get together to set the record straight, and in the end Himari quits the agency. Shinji really came through there seeing that these kids have their head in the clouds or something.

While this show had a great start, I'm just losing interest in this show as I feel that things are just going around in circles.

What's the deal with their parents? Why would the school call in his older sister over the accessory incident, she neither owns the store he sells them from nor is she his guardian

Episode 5-7:

I'm really loving the way this Anime delivers the comical reactions; Somebody behind the scenes clearly knows how to do comedy.
I appreciated these scenes especially:

Himari's awkward satisfaction when she suddenly slapped Yu, her chatting "Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes." during class, her reaction when Enomoto lifted her by grabbing her face, the cuts to Enomoto and Makishima when they caught Yu and Himari being all lovey dovey, Hibari aggressively stopping the car to unleash terror on Himari, and Himari's reaction to Yu noticing Enomoto's summer uniform when he never bothered with hers.

These are all very typical and generic RomCom schtick but, with effort in execution, it adds some uniqueness to an otherwise very basic RomCom cliché.
Without that style of comical jabs, I won't be watching this in the first place, much less like it as I do now.

No wonder Himari's brother hates her. I figured it was just because she acted towards him like Himari acts towards Yu, but, she's really a bitch

Episodes 8-9:

Enomoto gained some points for me in these 2 episodes. That convo she and Yu had highlighted her capability to handle mature situations, not to mention, she handled Yu's depression quite well...
... which Himari miserably failed to do so. This episode(s) highlighted how immature she still really is- which i guess makes sense since they're still teens- focusing more on how Yu's decision affects her than realizing how the situation might be affecting Yu. Kinda makes their "dream" thing quite foolish now seeing that it was started by a girl who seems to be just making childish goals beyond her understanding. It's just the usual fooling around for her during and after the entire situation, which is quite disappointing for her character growth-- or lack thereof.

I also appreciated how Enomoto was finally showing Yu that while she's still persistently pursuing him, it doesn't mean that she'd just always be around to help him with his shenanigans with Himari and his secret feelings for her.

The Kureha thing is the usual absurd final boss challenge for rom com stuff; Have a feeling she's gonna win it easily but be nice either way.
I like the Kureha vs Hibari bits though. I'd assume it was an image of Hibari begging Kureha to help Himari that she showed to him. xD

Oh for Pete's sake. I can't believe the drama for what - let's face it - are essentially craft fair projects. And there were some really noticeable off-model frames, too. I've come this far, I don't want to drop it, but I'm hoping they'll wrap it up soon.

I feel that. That's why I haven't watched episode 10 till now; I'll binge it while doing something else. xP
I'm not a fan of that challenge thing they made for the MC. It just took the fun away from the show.

I think this was actually one of the better romcoms of the last few years. They said at the end "it isn't over yet", but I think they pretty much wrapped it up.

Yeeeaaahhhh, that was kinda an ending (thank goodness) but if this gets a second season I don't think I'll bother.

Nonetheless: 0:52 almost worth it.

I decided to just play the last 3 episodes on background as I play a game; Good decision I'll say.
Kind of guessed how the ending would go-- although not totally since I thought Enomoto's sister was just gonna be all nice about it. But the actual conclusion isn't too far from that anyway; Yu and Himari still got bailed out of it easily.

They should've done better building up the Tokyo thing. I didn't actually realize that it was still a thing after Himari's initial fake out. Had they built it up properly since the beginning, then the finale with Yu and Himari being so emotional about their relationship possibly being affected by being separate from each other wouldn't have felt so unnecessarily serious, even though it has to be.
They also went overzealous with Himari's chaotic behavior, which went from very fun to irritatingly immature.

Big credits to the VAs. One of the biggest reasons this clicked for me early on was Suzushiro, Sayumi being so good at bringing a necessary level of energy and personality to Himari. She had a different delivery to every comical bits which made the comedy of this show feel unique despite being quite usual. The rest of the VAs did a good, if not great job as well.
Pretty good OP and ED as well, even has some noticeable good OSTs.

5.5/10. I was already decided to give it only '5' but, I do remember having lots of laughters during the first half.
