Wintertime Business is a crossover featuring two series from Nightow: the all-famous Trigun and the less popular Gungrave! While Gungrave is a more dominant fandom in this crossover, you will still get the Trigun feels. More like just another episode of Trigun, in which Vash gets into a trouble and resolves the problem peacefully.

Do you need any fandom knowledge? No. The concept of this story is pretty simple: a loan shark tries to extort a rebellious, superhuman client. Hilarity ensues.

The main source of the humor is Vash. You know Vash: the doughnut-loving goofball who can be really, really dangerous when the situation calls for it. His overly long (fake) name, his clumsiness, his (fake) cowardly attitude; all of them are fun to read. Brandon's calmness is just an icing on the cake. The best joke here is how it is poking the fourth wall. Trigun and Gungrave are both created by Nightow, and the similarities between the character designs are innocently pointed out (Brandon and Legato, Mika and Meryl).

Of course, the Trigun feels are well done. You know the running gag in the anime: wherever Vash goes, he gets in a trouble and when the citizens try to get him, there's the massive collateral damage. Wintertime Business depicts how the chase scene ends up wrecking the town of Billion, simply because Vash is too fast for Brandon and Brandon is virtually an undead Godzilla.

If it's Biologist's writing, you can expect it to be sufficiently descriptive. It makes the chase scene even more enjoyable because you can just see the mess Brandon and Vash make.

The only downside is that Vash's appearance in Gungrave universe may be a bit random. Or cliche, since wormholes are involved and they're a very common device in crossovers.

Highly recommended read, especially if you know Trigun.

Pros:
+ No fandom knowledge needed
+ Excellent humor
+ The contrast between Vash's and Brandon's character is well done
+ Trigun feels (for Trigun fans)
+ Descriptive writing style
+ Mostly grammatically clean

Cons:
- A bit random when it comes to how Vash ends up in Gungrave world
