Does anyone here attend any clubs in the metro area? If so, how do you like it? Do you do anything fun or just sit around and watch new releases? Would you recommend your club?

I was in a small anime club at GPC. We mainly would watch one series at a time, discussing an episode after watching each day. It was fun, but I wish we had been more active in events and what-not.

I only know of three clubs in the area at the moment, but haven't been in any of them. I ran across the first club's website while creating the list of brick-and-mortar stores in the Atlanta area so here is their site. The second is that Kennesaw State University has a club (I imagine Southern Polytechnic State University does as well even though they're supposed to merge with KSU at some point). Finally there's a small club that meets up at the Acworth location of Books-A-Million that I'm trying to get more info on.

I'm now a semi-regular member of the manga club at the Acworth Books-A-Million and would say that if you live nearby come check it out for a couple of weeks. So far it has seemed more like a group of friends hanging out and chatting about this and that or playing games, with the topic of anime and manga being discussed once every few meetings or so. Everyone seems fairly friendly once you break the ice. Meetings are on Wednesday nights and most of the members attending are usually there around 6PM.
