This is looking to be one of my goals for 2016 (50th b-day) - Ironman 70.3 Ohio. I love where it's going to be staged, just north of Columbus.

You should at least do a race for the experience. If anything, 5Ks. They are short distances. You'll be done in half an hour. I'm done for now until the Chicago Half Marathon on the 27th.

Boxing isn't bad at all, though I have a summer break now, not been running much, but been walking alot.

Darkmage530 | Dec 20, 2008 8:44 PM
Boxing, wow that is awesome! I'd be kind of afraid to try boxing. My friend got me to play racquetball the other day and that was a good workout too. Lots of fun too. Do you box with the same people or is there a big group of you all who rotate practice matches and such? I don't know much at all about boxing, sorry.

arcsay | Dec 15, 2008 5:20 PM
nice how much do you run for boxing?

Pontus | Dec 14, 2008 4:22 AM
I started to train boxing recently, this summer. For boxing you need stamina. So thats why I eun, or atleast the main reason. I started boxing cuz I wanted to learn how to defend my self and it is great training/workout.

Darkmage530 | Dec 8, 2008 9:09 AM
Not bad, few more training seasons under your belt and you should see significant improvements.

What are some of your goals for either the 1600 or 3200? and do you run indoor track as well as outdoor?

arcsay | Dec 1, 2008 4:59 PM

Well normally running shoes should be able to last anywhere from 300 to 1000 miles all depending on type of shoes, height, weight, running surface, and running form. And unless your feet, hips, or knees are bothering you and the shoes feel like they have a decent amount of padding you should be good for a while longer. I normally go about every 3 to 4 months for shoes which is between 350 and 600 miles depending on my work load from the coach.

If you aren't getting enough mileage out of your shoes, make sure you have the right type. If you are a pronator or neutral you will need the proper type of shoe.

I'm kind of lucky for shoe purchases, in high school we had a dealer "VA Runner" that gave 15% off to high school runners. And in college I have 45% off for brooks or asics shoes.

I've been running in Brooks Adrenaline GTS 8 (and previous models) for the past 6 years or so. I love those shoes.

What year in high school are you? and what is your 5k time? Do you plan to do track if so are you more of a 3200m or 1600m/800m guy?
