Or wait, is payment due on June 7th and release is August 9th? Just noticed the August 9th date.

alamarco | Mar 2, 2012 4:04 PM
Is this something a proxy could order or is it only physical bookstores? From the sounds of it, the proxy would just need to fill in the PDF and send in that box correct?

If I'm reading that correctly it's 2400 yen and released on June 7th. Do you know when payment is due?

That's what i meant, mistyped doujins by mistake.

gringe | Mar 2, 2012 8:15 AM
The Jinki Extend art books weren't doujins; they were actual official releases from the publisher, but it was very limited how you could get them.

(NSFW): http://toloverulove.blog121.fc2.com/blog-entry-1426.html

Likewise, this new art book release may be limited too, though I'm not 100% sure yet.

OrochiPL | Mar 2, 2012 6:21 AM
I haven't heard of that series, but i'm suprised i didn't hear about something infamous as it's doujins. Sounds fun, let's hope someone scanlated those HoTD/Triage X doujins after getting them.

gringe | Mar 2, 2012 3:03 AM
So basically it sounds like they're doing something similar like what they've done with the Jinki Extend art books. Those ones were pretty infamous for including graphic pictures of the girls being raped, so hopefully this one will deliver on the sexiness front as well (don't necessarily need rape though).

All right, so, I was inspecting the order form some more, and apparently you can only get it by ordering it through a bookstore. I wasn't sure what 受注生産 meant so I didn't really pay attention but it means "built to order" which I guess means they'll only make as many as they get orders. Unfortunately this probably means people not living in Japan won't be able to get it so easily...

Still, they may do orders online later so I'll still keep an eye open.

Definitely troll. If Highschool of the Dead was coming back, it would definitely be mentioned on either Fujimi Shobo's website or 2ch.

gringe | Mar 1, 2012 5:45 PM
I don't mind old stuff at all either. I'm glad to finally get a collection of illustrations. I was just trying to guess what might be in it because I'm pretty excited. Five months is too long. :[

I don't mind old stuff, and don't really require new stuff. An artbook is cool enough as it is, and usually includes some great poster material which is why I usually get 2. Debind the one and toss the other up on the wall.

Even though I'm more of a HOTD fan, I think I'm looking forward to the Triage X images more. Only one poster I have of Triage X, so if it has some good material it would make me happy. :)

OrochiPL | Mar 1, 2012 4:27 PM
Old stuff is good enough, as long as we get some new as well. I hope full version of that Saeko art seen on the site you just posted along with news.

I have way too much time on my hands so I decided to do a little speculation and old illustration tracking for the new art book.

First off, it should be the same print size as the previous artbook which was released as a promotional item with Dragon Age (Gallery of the Dead). That artbook was 80 pages total, but had the first 20 pages of the Full Color Edition and a number of filler pages with nothing of consequence and anime illustrations as well. The new artbook is supposed to be 128 pages.

I think I may have jumped to conclusions because of the mention of Fire Fire Fire on the promotional page, but the title of the book itself only mentions HotD and Triage X so there may not be any FFF illustrations after all. I'm going to guesstimate the possible number of reused HotD and Triage X illustrations by page numbers (so illustrations that span two pages count as two, since they'll likely be reproduced as spreads too).

SchDead Museum : 24
A Good Day Tomorrow (short prequel novel) : 6
Gallery of the Dead Special illustration (cake) : 2
Gallery of the Dead cover : 1
Heroine vs. Heroine : 14
Dragon Age covers : 12
HotD volume 1-5 covers : 5 or 10 (I believe each cover has an additional smaller character illustration so it could be different depending on how they want to print it)
HotD volume 6 variations : 4 (there's the standard release, two promotional releases if you bought volume 6 at certain stores, and an additional variation in the Secret Box)
HotD volume 7 : 3 or 4?
HotD volume color illustrations (4 in each volume except volume 1) : 24?
HotD Full Color Edition covers : 6? (the covers, plus the long spead underneath)
Triage X volume 1-4 : somewhere between 4 and 12 or so?... there are a lot of character illustrations on each cover though I doubt they'd have entire pages dedicated to each one.
Miscellaneous promotional illustrations: This is really hard to keep track of, but I'm going to guess it's 25 or in that ball park. Dragon Age has released a number of illustration booklets and occasionally had new illustrations in the magazine, there's that naked Rei picture that was given away in that sweepstakes and then reused for the Secret Box, the Saeko titty pad illustration, and quite a few others...
I don't expect the illustrations Shouji Sato's posted to his site to be included because they're usually quick rough drawings.

It's hard to estimate exactly, but the artbook will certainly be MOSTLY older illustrations. I wouldn't expect more than 10-20 pages of new illustrations, which hey, would still be pretty awesome. I also wonder if there'll be any new interviews or anything.

Thanks for the update gringe. I'll try checking Amazon often as this is something I definitely want to order. I have 2 copies of the orignal and would like 2 copies of this one as well.

If you see it on Amazon, or any other shops, please do post a link. :)

They're releasing an art book with art from HotD, Triage X, and Fire Fire Fire! According to the promotional materials, there'll be a lot of original illustrations and such. It says "if you don't preorder it you won't be able to get it!!" but I don't know if that's just advertising propaganda to rack up sales more quickly. As of now it's not on Amazon but I'll keep an eye open. It says to take the preorder form into a bookstore so I'm assuming it'll be in stores.

Volume 4:

Unexpected yet delicious. I assumed they were going to keep the pattern of putting a different main heroine on each cover.

thanks gringe!! it makes a great wallpaper :D

gringe | Feb 10, 2012 10:59 AM
I guess this is sort of old news, but Inazuma just updated his site about it. He did an official illustration that was featured in Blazblue Continuum Shift Extend.

Which I guess explains this:

I have all the Japanese versions as well, although I don't understand them at all. I'm just a huge fan of HOTD where I needed to get both English and Japanese.

Seeing as how bad the industry is, if we get anything good at all, they really have to screw up everything to turn me off. Of course I'd prefer everything to be perfect, but I guess I'm easy to please. :P

gringe | Feb 2, 2012 4:11 PM
Well, as someone who bought the Japanese version, it was certainly enough to turn me off from buying it, especially with the $14 (?) price tag. :P

Anyway, I'd kinda forgotten manga publishers in the US are dying off. I just hope if Triage X is licensed they do the art justice.
