Well, based on this info from FF Wikia, her real name is Aerith, not Aeris."In the original Japanese version of Final Fantasy VII, her name is Aerith, but it was translated as Aeris in the English version by SCEA. This is because the Japanese language doesn't have the "th" sound, and the closest thing is "su," the equivalent of the English-language "s" sound. The translators were mistaken when they spelled her name in English, and took the "su" sound in her Japanese name to mean an "s." " It is the same situation with Sephiroth as the Japanese spelling of his name is Sefirosu. Since the "th" sound does not exist in Japanese, they had to go with "su". |

yup, besides what if says in the club information, her name is written Aerith, not Aeris, that's based on cannon info. on the original game they did refer to her as Aeris but in the others, it's Aerith, no matter how it's pronouncedcheck her page on FF wikia |

Hehe, oh this ole discussion.First Maiden isn't canon and SE doesn't even reference it in their ultimanias. Plus, it's been retconned by DoC and CC. But even then, if you cherry pick the "she loved Cloud more" line, then sure, it seems that way. Reality is that if you read the entire paragraph, she then goes on to describe him as Zack. It's a huge *hint hint* at the reader. It's not until much later in the book that she admits to actually knowing the real Cloud, so how she's in love with somone she doesn't know is beyond me. XP Oh, and when she thinks up things that make Cloud unique, Zack appears. ...And when she realizes Cloud was acting like Zack, she gives up all her feelings she had for him and entrusts them to Tifa... ya... Maiden doesn't prove anything CxA related. It's funny I see people saying that Cloud loved Aeris though. Never has there been any proof of this. Faux Cloud can be affectionate to whoever you want. Then the ultimanias confirm that not only was he in love with Tifa, but that Cloud and Tifa reveal their feelings for one another at the end of the game, and live together in AC and DC. XP That's about it. I own the ultimanias, but there are translations on the internet too. Just wanted to clear those things up. Oh, and for ZxA, quote "Aeris' feelings for Zack explain why she acts the way she does around Cloud in FFVII." That came direct from the SE of CC. |

No possible spoilers ;P Like I said, I read too much Cloud x Aerith theories, so I know almost everything about Cloud x Aerith x Tifa ;PAbout the novels... Square allowed them to be released so I'm guessing they're not that far of from the original story.. And Cloud and Aerith were 2 of the initial 3 characters from the game, considering that you need a loving pair in the game ;P But I'm always expecting that Aerith "wakes up" and realizes that she deserves someone better than Cloud, and that that someone is right beside her =) |

True, the Golden Saucer scene definitely hinted at that, but it could have also meant that she just realized the whole 'Cloud-not-being-Cloud' thing (uhmmm, I hope I didn't spoil it too much for you since you haven't played the game cause it's one of the main plot twists ^^'''').I've never read the novels, but I wouldn't take them as canon anyway. From what I've heard, they're nothing more than professional fanfiction. |
