Information
Skip Beat Fan Club Skip beat! is the story of Kyoko Mogami, a wistful yet cheery seventeen year-old girl who loves her childhood friend, Shotaro, but is cruelly betrayed and thus seeks revenge against him. She used to spend a lot of time at Shotaro's parents' inn and learned a lot about housekeeping, hostelry, and other feminine jobs (sewing, cooking, serving tea traditionally, etc.). Shotaro, not wishing to take over his parents' inn, becomes bored of living in Kyoto and decides to move to Tokyo to pursue a career in music. Sho, as he is called by his fans, asks Kyoko to leave high school in Kyoto Prefecture and her life behind to help him. Upon arrival in Tokyo, Kyoko lives an unreasonably frugal life, spending nothing on herself and doing whatever she can for Sho, who is ranked seventh in the top twenty most popular entertainers of Japan. It appears that Shotaro never helps with the cost of food, apartment, or necessary products. However, one day as she brings him his lunch at a company building, she overhears Sho complaining about her to his manager, saying that she is a boring and plain girl that he'd like to be rid of, proceeding to sweet-talk and flirt with his manager, whereas he hadn't even put his arm around Kyoko in her life. Unlike other heroines in the same situation, Kyoko doesn't shed many tears when she learns that Sho thinks she's only good for housekeeping. Instead, her "Pandora's box" opens and she vows vengeance on Shotaro. Enraged, Kyoko attempts to attack Sho, but is instantly carried off by security. Sho mockingly tells her that if she wants revenge, she had better become a bigger star than him. And so Kyoko, vowing revenge, changed her appearance and started to enter the entertainment business. Little did she know that her journey will not go as smooth as she thought. Skip Beat follows Kyoko's journey to climb the showbiz ladder as she meets interesting people along the way, all in the hopes of revenge and finding herself in the end. Ok It's been 3 years since my last comment but I'm still kind of disappointed that they only had a limited release of their dub. This series dub deserved more availability to be bought. Even though I'm still glad I held out on watching the anime until the dub was created. It was well worth the wait.

However my main point is....how is this club and other places so quiet after the recent volume release! :O I literally screamed with joy and excitement!!! It's going to be really tough for another manga series to have a chapter that will make me feel this. Maybe the fact that this is probably the series I've been reading the most years has alot to do with that (not that I'm complaining, I love it's length) that and it probably was one of the first publishing series I picked up when I joined this site :D

Yay! I wasn't sure if there would be a response.

Here's the link to the official backerkit: https://skipbeat.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

You can still place orders until Dec. 15th I think. It's a bit confusing because there's a lot of information being shared but you can read the updates on the backer-kit site.

Last I heard they are processing orders now and are expecting to ship by August!!!!!!! Get pumped!!

Thanks space-bear for bringing it up. I've been wanting to say something new about Skip Beat and now's the time.

Wow I hadn't heard anything new of the dub since January. I'm so surprised how it was accomplished the way it did. Not only is it funded but they got some great people involved in production. When will it be up for sale?

I am worried though about some of the voices. Glad they got Vic, Bryce and Richard but I'm unsure about Caitlin and especially Bobby. Let's hope they do their characters well. If not then I'll be happy to stick to reading the manga.

Who else is waiting on their shipment of the American release!? I see some people posted about the dub in January but a lot has happened since then!

Yeah that's why I said many times it happens, but not always. Judging by how the speed is going though...we can't be sure what Nakamura-san is thinking. This can be a good thing or bad thing...which is why I don't mind the wait I guess.

Just depends on the mangaka really. If she knows where she's going and how she wants to get there, there's no reason to expect cancellation.

Though I suppose if she knew that, we'd be getting more meaningful chapters than we are each month. Honestly, with quality that we get right now, I wouldn't be surprised if she's only actually working one or two weeks per month.

True but what I meant is many times with quick publication causes a lousy quick ending.

jacobpaige | Jan 16, 2017 6:32 AM
Weekly publication isn't the same as cancellation. Also, I wouldn't mind the monthly publication as much as I do if a month's worth of progress were in each chapter, but usually, we're lucky to get two weeks.
