Benji's father is a character of the day who appeared in Mountain Time (EP174).
Benji and his father are part of the Mountain Patrol and they use Ledian to help them do their job. To help train these Ledian, Benji's father has a Pidgeotto to simulate the strong winds that occur in the mountains.
He met Ash and his friends briefly, though he had to rush off to a job in a mountain village. He left Benji in charge and reassured his son that he was only a radio call away if he needed any assistance.
Benji's father later stopped Team Rocket from running off with Ash's Pikachu and Misty's Togepi. He and his son then teamed up and used both of their Ledian to save Pikachu and Togepi. Afterwards, night fell and the first stars began to appear in the sky. After Benji's Ledian's spots started glowing, a sign of its increased experience, he promoted his son to "Officer of the Mountain Patrol" because of it.
