Koichi Kawato (川藤 幸一)Koichi Kawato is a 24 year old single and an enthusiastic modern Japanese teaching teacher. He is accepted at the Futagotamagawa Gakuen High School and is assigned to class 1-B. Little did he know that all of the members of the baseball club reside in this class and that they gained delinquent status after the school and tournament expulsion.Throughout the series, Kawato's honest and positive attitude shines as he's repeatedly given the short end of the stick in several situation yet perseveres and remains optimistic all the while. It's these rare qualities of Kawato's that slowly influence not only the titula "Rookies" for the better, but also his co-workers, of whom believe delinquents to be hopeless.
