Private Entry
July 17th, 2013
Well, its been awhile since I've made an entry thought I'd bring things up to speed, in the time since my last entry I've finished a lot of series. I've watched Code Geass, RahXephon, Berserk, to name a few, and I thought I should share my thoughts on some of the series I've been watching among other things.

I finished Code Geass a couple weeks ago and was thoroughly entertained the whole time, I won't go so far as to say it was the greatest anime ever, as my friends hailed it to be, but it was really good and has secured it's place in my top ten list. After that I watched The World God Only Knows and I've finished both the first and second seasons and it is now one of my favorite anime comedies, as well as one of my favorite anime series period. It's a little sad seeing that they just started airing the third season though, I know that sounds strange to say, as really I couldn't have picked a better time to get into the series if they just started airing the the third, (and I'm assuming final) season. But there is a problem there and it is something that should be said, on the twenty-first of August I will be taking a hiatus from anime...a particularly long one as it will last two years. That's right, for two years I will be completely devoid of anime in my life, sad I know, but I have very personal reasons for making this decision. The reason why this makes me sad is that I have made the decision to stop watching all anime that are ongoing, because I'm not going to be able to see the ending episodes when they air anyways so what's the point of watching them when I can just pick up where I left off two years from now? So, long story short I will only be watching anime that are already finished and are very high on my to watch list.

With that out of the way I will mention some of the other titles I am watching and what I think of them. The most recent anime series I finished would be RahXephon and Berserk, interesting note I rated both of them a six, which by no means is bad...it's just not great. RahXephon like everyone says, was VERY similar to Evangelion, and I can safely say that I liked Evangelion a lot more comparatively speaking. But still, keep in mind that I did give it a six, which on my chart makes it an anime I liked, so by no means did I hate it, and I wouldn't be surprised if I come back to watch it again at a future date. Now then, there's Berserk. Wow, that ending...yeah it screamed READ THE MANGA! Why? Because it didn't end! Without a doubt one of the worst anime endings I've ever seen and definitely worth all the infamy the series has received as a result, but it was still worth the watch and I freaking love Guts, he's such a badass character, not to mention I like to think we're very similar in appearance...in the facial department at least. Lets see here besides those two...Ah! Yes, lets mention my beef with Oreimo and TWGOK. They seriously need to put a warning at the start of every new season if there were OVA's in between that says, "BTW we released such and such OVA, you might want to watch that first," Because I start watching both of the first episodes for the second and third seasons for the series respectively, to find I have no idea what the heck is going on. Why? Because I've missed sometimes three or four OVA's that happen after the end of the previous season, and for me this can be incredibly frustrating. What's more is that these OVA's are not available on most legal streaming sites, which is a quandary for me as I have moral reservations about viewing anime on illegal streaming sites. So, in short I wish that websites like Crunchyroll, and The Anime Network would post OVA's in addition to the episodes of the seasons in chronological order relative to the regular episodes. Because I would LOVE to watch the second season of Oreimo, but I don't know where to find the OVA's which is keeping me from watching more.

Other than that I've been watching some recent titles, like Watanobe (Which is fracking hilarious by the way) and Little Busters! I'll mention my experience with Little Busters! thus far, and I'll save Watanobe for later. Oh my gosh, this series is cheesy as crap, even by anime standards this is cheesy, and overall I'm very disappointed with the execution thus far. Again I'm only three episodes in, but still there are a lot of things that it has done that have irked me. Hopefully, it will get better as I am a HUGE fan of Key visual novel adaptations, but I'm beginning to think that this one may be the exception to the rule of Key VN adaptation greatness. It has nice animation on the positive side and I really like how the characters look, but that's about all I like about the characters. I wonder if the lack of quality I've noticed in Little Busters! is because it wasn't made by Kyoto Animation, but some other company? Because Clannad and Kanon were AMAZING, but this is...meh. Maybe it's not the companies fault though and maybe it was Key that dropped the ball on this one, but I rather doubt that, as Little Busters! the visual novel is hailed as Key's best work yet by most people. Speaking of visual novels, I'm starting to immerse myself into those as well, I recently played my first visual novel Go! Go! Nippon! and enjoyed it for the most part. If anything though it really inspired me to read other visual novels, as I kind of hoped that there were better ones out there. So I recently purchased Kira! Kira! a VN about a group of high school friends that form a punk rock band. Seems pretty good, I haven't played it yet, but I believe it will be much better than Go! Go! Nippon! or at least I hope so.

But yeah, here's hoping Little Busters! gets better, and Kira! Kira! is better VN experience than Go! Go! Nippon! I'll probably get around to watching some other series soon, so it probably won't be as long before my next entry.

Recently I've been sort of going back and forth between several series. The chief among these definitely being Code Geass, which I'm currently watching with some friends of mine who absolutely love the series. I'm thoroughly enjoying Code Geass, but I'd also like to mention the other titles I've currently been viewing. I've recently discovered that I am very big fan of the series The World God Only Knows, especially the seconds season. It's without doubt one of my favorite anime comedies and I look forward to seeing the third (and I'm assuming the final) season. Of course I've also been watching Attack on Titan, but lets be honest, who isn't watching Attack on Titan? The most recent series I've begun watching is the mecha anime, RahXephon. I believe the main reason that this series seemed so appealing to me was that it is very similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion, which I'm quite a fan of, and as I've been watching I've noticed that some of the similarities are almost uncanny. Especially with the characters, if you've seen Eva then you can already nail down characters that are almost copy and pasted from Eva. So yeah that's what I've been watching, sadly enough I can't seem to bring myself to finish Baccano! Even though I've got like two episodes left, I'm rather disappointed by that series, as I went in thinking I would love it, and to be perfectly honest I can't really explain why I don't like it. Maybe I'll have to go back and re-watch the series sometime and maybe I'll like it better then.

Yeah, so I recently started watch Oreimo, I'm surprised by how much I enjoy it. It's one of the funniest anime series I've ever seen. Though in the back of my head I'm kind of ashamed that I like it at the same time. Even though I just started the second season and I have no idea what the heck is going on, it's there was an OVA episode I missed or something because I watch the first episode and all this stuff has happened since the end of the first season, which kind of bothers me. Yeah, if anyone knows if I missed like an OVA in between or a movie, and could let me know, that would be great, because if not than I'll just run with it.
