Anime Relations: Poputepipikku

So I have noticed that I really hate reading MAL forums, especially the AD forum. It’s way too repetitive. For each regular poster, I can almost predict the content each post solely based on the poster and the topic title. This makes it very annoying to read the forum, especially when I hold a complete opposite opinion of controversial opinions displayed in those posts.

In other words, if AD is an anime, it’s a horrible one, because each episode (aka topic) is a battle, with the Monster being the OP (Monster of the Week), and the action sequences (aka post) of each main character (aka regular poster) are too predictable, and also in an annoying way.

So, MAL and many other anime database site I've seen have this "challenges" section. However, I refuse to participate in challenges, because I believe it will ruin my anime watching experience.

The most important reason of all is that, I feel like participating in a challenge will make me lose interest in anime. Anime is supposed to be a relaxing hobby, and you should watch anime when you feel like doing so, and not force yourself to watch anime by a certain schedule. I think turning anime watching from a hobby into a chore is the best way to stop liking anime.

Furthermore, I do not want to get addicted to anime. If participating in a challenge means I must binge watch anime, I will refuse. Unlike many other people on the forum, I actually have a life, and cannot make anime take up all my time. This is why I limit how much anime I watch per day, and challenges will only work against that goal.

Finally, I do not see the point of taking part in challenges. The main two points I can see are: To ensure you are watching enough anime, and to expand your tastes in anime. From the first two paragraphs you can see I do not believe the first point at all. And I think the second point is rather silly as well; essentially you are trying to force yourself to like a different type of anime. Maybe you end up liking that new genre, but it would be more efficient to keep watching that same genre until exhausted. Naturally your tastes will keep expanding anyway; I know mine did. But more importantly for me, I am specifically avoiding some genres which I do not want to like, which are namely ecchi, zombies, vampires, shounen ai, and shoujo ai.

As someone who likes music, I love listening to anime OPs and EDs, and always listen to them, skipping them only due to time constraints when watching anime. However, IMO they do not affect how good the anime is. As such, I've decided to give a different ranking page for OPs and EDs, which also follows a 1-10 scale with integer ratings only.

Also, note that I'll be keeping OPs and EDs separate, and will not merge them into a single ranking. This is because I think they are too different to compare.
