Anime Relations: Ergo Proxy, Kotoura-san
I love anime in general but seriously there is so much shit that it pulls that makes me rage. Stuff it thinks people like but which is actually the most annoying thing in the world.

I hope everyone agrees with me and then we can use this blog entry as a petition to the anime industry and they can stop doing this stuff:

Making a noise as you put food in your mouth
You see this in like 99% of anime. Whenever a character (usually a girl) goes to eat something, they'll make a "haaaaumph" noise as they put it in their mouth. WHY?! It is the dumbest thing ever. No one does this in real life. What's worse is this is usually followed by a muffled "oiiffiiii" (oishii) which, while it happens commonly in Japan, is still annoying.

Making a noise after gulping down a drink
This isn't as common as the food thing, but still pretty annoying. Characters will get a drink (usually has to be in a bottle/can), gulp it down, and then thrust the empty bottle into the air and make a "Paaaaahh!" noise, which is usually followed by "aaaahhhhh" or "pheewwww". Like, sure, this happens frequently irl, but it's so overdone in anime that it has become grating and unnecessary.

Talking to yourself
Happens mostly with male characters. In order to let the audience in on what's going on or what they're thinking, they'll talk out loud. At regular speech volume. No one does this irl and if you do you are probably insane in some fashion. Is it so difficult to have the character THINK instead of talk? Or perhaps the problem rests with the storytelling of the particular anime. How about conveying everything through actions or images, or just don't tell us because a lot of the time what the character says is an incessant waste of breath. Please.

Not finishing sentences for no reason
Perhaps this is just something that is lost in the translation. But honestly, it happens way too often and pretty much never serves a purpose. I will give you a recent example - at the end of episode 7 of Kotoura-san (which by the way wholeheartedly embodies the above peeves of mine) Kotoura herself says "In this world, I...." AND THAT'S THE END OF THE EPISODE.
WHAT IN THE HELL. DOES THAT MEAN.
In this world I....what? Wait, what could even GO at the end of that sentence?
Anyway anime regularly pulls shit like this, I guess to leave the viewer guessing or to seem mysterious or something. I can tell you now, it doesn't work.

There's something wrong with my eyes
This is a three part peeve. The first part is characters whose eyes are either consistently closed or are drawn as a single line just coz. It's not THAT common but it happens enough. Usually the characters are male, and are the happy go lucky type or deceptively evil or something. Most of the time I can handle this but honestly it does piss me off occasionally. I can forgive it when it comes to cases like Vincent Law, because when he finally opens his eyes it's like oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
The second part is where characters' eyes suddenly aren't there anymore. This happens during incredibly emotional scenes, and it seems the lack of eyes is an attempt to indicate internal thought or something. Sometimes, it is pre-emptive to an emotional outburst. Either way, it's a lazy visual trick and is usually used by emotionally-manipulative shows or those that are paper-thin in most ways.
The THIRD is the wobble eyes which I'm pretty sure actually appears in every single anime ever. Now, admittedly this is actually bearable a lot of the time. I mean, many of my favorite shows are guilty of it. The reason for its existence could be due to a couple of things. Firstly, emotion tends to play a role. A character may be at a loss for words and so their 'feelings' are conveyed through their wibbly-wobbly eyes. Or they could be talking (usually stuttering) as their eyes wobble uncontrollably. Secondly, it could be to create some form of movement in an otherwise static image. Because animating complex facial expressions/movements is quite rare, the eye wobble is often an attempt to show that hey, this character IS alive, and he/she is thinking about something. And yes! This IS an animated tv program, not just a collection of images. I think these two cover it, but there may be a third reason. I shall keep a lookout.

I'm a young male anime character so I must touch the back of my head with my hand way too often
It's the bended arm behind the head thing that male anime characters tend to do when they are flustered, confused, just conversing in general, or....you know screw that, they do it for anything. I know what it is supposed to indicate, but again, it's an overdone "technique" that makes me instantly dislike the character just that little bit more. I guess it's more common in shitty harem shows or just shows that have teen angsty male protagonists, so it's partially my fault that this peeves me off. But whatever, had to be said.

Wandering around the site (as you do), I find myself checking out all kinds of anime. Most of the time this is accompanied by reading reviews, just to get an idea about particular anime that seem interesting.
In doing this, I often stumble across exceedingly remarkable reviews. Reviews that just make you say "wow, how long did this person spend writing this???"

I also check out the recommendations a lot, and it's the same thing with them.

Therefore, I've decided to update this entry with links to particular reviews and recommendations that grab my attention whenever I stumble across them - for your entertainment of course.

Btw thanks to Yoshi for providing me with a lot of these. he's a dude you'd want to be around in a fire, that's for sure.

Reviews

The first one, a review on 99% Love, a one-shot manga.

A review of a manga, Handmade Cup Noodles. Keeping it brief...

Heh, this is taken from a different site (anidb), but I just had to since it was quite an entertaining read. It's a review of Code Geass Season 1.

Recommendations

This one seriously made me laugh. It's for Haruhi Suzumiya/Fumoffu.
They're both funny and in one episode of Haruhi Suzumiya, Itsuki says "Fumoffu" to defeat that one thing that I wouldn't really want to spoil even though it wouldn't really matter because it wasn't that important. This similarity is somewhat random. Sorry!

Another one for Haruhi, with AIKa R-16: Virgin Mission.
The main characters are similares

Rec for TTGL/Mars of Destruction.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the best anime I have ever seen.
Mars of Destruction is the worst anime I have ever seen.
Their similarities are only exceeded by their differences.

Skip Beat/Special A
BOTH OF THEM HAVE ROMANCE IN THE MAIN CHARACTERS

BUT TO KEEP IT SIMPLE IF YOU LOVE SKIP BEAT YOU WILL REALLY ENJOY SPECIAL A

Blood+/Pico x CoCo x Chico
Both shows are queer as hell, literally (hell is a very queer place afterall, both Jesus and Obama live there). If you enjoyed Blood+ you will most likely enjoy this, you sick fuck!

Recommendation for Green Green and Love Love.
Love Love. Green Green. Love Green. Green Love.

What do u want more?!?

For Hanamaru Youchien and Chu-Bra!!
If you like Chu-Bra!! you're probably a pedophile...and what's not to love about Hanamaru Kindergarten if you're a pedophile? Like, it's got a 5 year old girl who wants to get railed by her kindergarten teacher...what more could you ask for? Fanservice? Well don't worry..Hanamaru Kindergarten has that too, they have tons of diaper shots and the blue haired girl always dresses up as a cat. All in all, if you like Chu-Bra!! for the little girls (which is the only reason to watch the show), you'll love this because the girls are even YOUNGER. Remember, they can never be too young.

Rec for Kino's Journey and GitS: SAC
If you liked
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

...then you might like
Kino's Journey

I haven't completely finished Kino's Journey nor have I even started GitS or even know what its about, but if i had to guess its about ghost turtles, and if i had to guess even more i'd say there's about a 50/50 chance one or two ghost turtles play some role in Kino's Journey.

Black Lagoon S2 + Geass S2
They're both the second season of a show, and as you know the second season is always better, just look at Star Wars it had special effects like some movie from the 70s, the new trilogy was a masterpiece when compared to its predecessor. If you want proof just look at the second season of Code Geass it brought in masterful characters like chinese Lelouch who
and those knight people. Enjoy the recommendation friends!
report

Berserk + Claymore
Claymore is like Berserk, except it has stupid looking monsters and less rape sadly.

Bebop + Black Lagoon
Ok so might be asking yourself " How are these things alike at all!' honestly they aren't, i mean one takes place in space and the other takes place in Germany or something (because it had Nazis) but for some strange reason in Cowboy Bebop they don't all use laser guns, so to sum things up they both have guns.

Gunslinger Girl and its sequel
the first season to this anime... if you like to watch gunslinger girl il tratino you sure don.t want to miss the fierst season...

King of Bandit Jing and Grenadier
There is a pair similarities. Both I recommend to look ^ _ ^

LOGH + Maria-sama ga Miteru
The shoujo-ai subtextual romance between the petit soeurs is strongly reminiscent of the shonen-ai subtextual romance between Reinhard and Kircheiss

Satou Sei is basically Bittenfeld
