Welcome. I will attempt to explain the system I use for rating anime shows. First off..I don't use the full 1-10 rating system that myanimelist has available, instead I rate from (5)6 to 10. I also rate my shows in relation to what I have seen so far and what I have rated those.

-SCORE-

-5- You will probably never see this rating from me because this score means to me that the show was bad enough to be dropped (or just didn't catch any interest from me before I dopped it). Since I don't rate shows I haven't finished, you don't see any 5s from me. (note: Don't assume I would rate all of my dropped shows a 5 because I have not seen all of the episodes...had I seen all of the episodes, maybe I would have given it some other rating...)

-6- These shows caught my interest long enough to get through them. Some may have had situations or content I found entertaining/amusing at the time. Overall though...I wouldn't recommend these shows to anyone.

-7- I generally found these shows more entertaining...but just ok (though there may have been some I had trouble deciding if I should rate it with a 7 or an 8). I may recommend some of these shows to people looking for very specific types of anime.

-8- Shows with this rating are the ones that I found to be good. Shows in this list can range from just good to (almost) very good. (Again...I may have had trouble deciding to give this an 8 or a 7...or perhaps an 8 or a 9). I would recommend these shows to people looking for certain types (or genres) of anime.

-9- Now these are the shows I liked a lot. Very entertaining and fun to watch. (A few of these shows may not have consistently been "9" material for me...but there was just something about it that I liked). I would recommend most of these shows to people who just like anime.

-10- There are 2 ways I think about shows with this rating...either I found it to be a masterpiece...or it was incredibly addicting. Not much more to say here.

Closing notes: Keep in mind I may have had trouble deciding what to rate certain shows...so not all ratings are necessarily absolute. I have not been using myanimelist since I first starting watching anime...so when entering older anime that I have seen into my list, I might have forgotten some aspects of the show. Maybe if I were to re-watch some of those shows I might re-rate them. Now the most importing thing to remember....just because I like a show doesn't automatically mean you will like it (and vice versa).
