Anime Relations: Katanagatari
Okay so im typing this blog so I can like, gather my thoughts and feelings about this anime I watched in Hong Kong (while I had nothing to do). I havent typed a blog so hopefully this will make my MAL somewhat, more full? AAHHAHAHAHAH,.

Okay lets get started.

So before I even started watching Katanagatari I seriously thought it was a little weird, looking at the art style and all but it didnt appeal to me back then. But a while back I downloaded it because I saw a batch in Blue Ray, so i decided to put it aside to watch later. Obviously this came in handy and I watched it.

It started off a little boring I have to admit. It was slow, and the first episode seemed something rather generic. I mean seriously, COLLECTING SWORDS!? Its a really typical storyline for most anime. Someone to come crashing in and just really, dragging someone off on an adventure. Howeer the style really struck me as unique (despite not liking it before).I really have come to like striking/ different styles in anime, especially when everything looks sort of the same nowdays.

The seiyuu were also new to me. usually I pick up on familiar seiyuu first episode around (I think Nanami was familiar) however this time I didnt really. Despite that I really liked the casting for the characters as they each suited their roles perfectly.

The animation was fluid and there isnt any CG at all, which is rare now since it seems like an easy way out for producers. But I was also unaware of the fact that each episode would be about 50 minutes long. So I sat through the first episode and actually almost gave up as I thought that it was a standard 24min run (and usually when I get bored in a standard ep (furst ep) that might mean time to drop it).

However things did get better story flowed on a little after ep1 onwards.

(Im not really going to go through this ep by ep but ill just rant about whatever comes to my head first)

Firstly I think a bit more action was in need for. I mean the battles were great but if you were watching just for the battles they seriously lacked in action. I was REALLY annoyed that they just skipped out the whole Sabi Hakuhei battle. I mean, HE WAS JAPANS STRONGEST SAMURAI. We didnt even get a peek ;; I think im just not looking deep enough or the animators got lazy. Either way I did wish that Sabi got a bit more screen time (especially since he got those random inserts throughout some of the eps) and he was kinda attractive.

Not to mention some parts had LOTS of talking. Not meaning full talk but lots of chatter that made it really boring I guess, usually it was Togame rambling which lead to me disliking Togame and her personality. People may punch me and kick me but I did get pretty irked because of her princess like attitude but even so I lasted till the end and I guess it was worth it. I do like her now that I have reached the end and I cant say her attitude sort of reminded me of Kirino from Oreimo. Also the fact that Shichika did all her bidding and....Im not sure how to explain it but Togame really did irk me.

Shichika on the other hand was as adorable as could be and I simply adored how clueless he was and how he gain humanity and watching him develop was like watching someones child grow up. I really liked his voice as well (which is always something I depend on to like a character HAHAHAHA).

Also the CHARACTERS. each one had amazing desgin and I particularly loved the Maniwa Ningun designs ugghhhhh all of them were to die for. Also each one had a very unique personality which upped the quality of watching . If there was ANYTHING. ANYTHING AT ALL i loved about this show it was the character design and personality. ESPECIALLY Maniwa Houou and Nanami. I sort of wished Nanami got a little more screentime but her appearance was enough for the show in terms of contribution.

The ending was a little unexpected too. well.... not a little. A LOT. I mean the si-fi touch was interesting, a little rushed, however but the ENDING. ENDING was just jdhfigajkldgd I cant really say I was angry or dissatisfied. It was great ;;

though there was the nanami vs shichika episode where the art changed drastically. I wish there was some kind of explanation. I mean the art style was a LOT more bold, which I liked but because it was inconsistent with the rest it hit me as a bad point.

the touches of generic anime and some humour did really add to it, and the romance was slow but eventually got there. The narrator was a nice touch but probably should have contributed either more or less (please pick one.) since it did realllyyy contribute to the anime but she had a few more lines perhaps..... I came to love each characters that appeared and the way a simple journey turned out to be a big one. I wouldnt say 10/10 because some areas lacked (especially conversation bits)

OKAY IM DONE RAMBLING. if you read this. Thanks for putting up with my shit and yeah. I feel good now.
