For many years, I've been skeptical of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I've never liked the overly machismo characters you find in manga like these. Hokuto no Ken and stuff like that felt too ridiculous to take seriously. But a manga as ridiculous as Jojo's isn't meant to be taken seriously.

The largest appeal for me is the continuity over the centuries. You get to see this whole jostar lineage as well as the influences of dio and the artifacts as time passes.

Still, I can't say I love it. But I don't hate it either. Josuke is definitely my favorite Jo, but my least favorite story arc. But then again I like Jotaro better in the crazy diamond arc than I did in his own Egypt adventure. But as far as abilities go. I liked the solar power from the first two waay more than stands and their shinanigans. But the stands certainly did make for more interesting villains and conflicts for the characters.

Anyway, that's it for this blog

Anime Relations: Ga-Rei: Zero
Brrr!
Shivers down my spine. Not because it is cold, not because it was haunting, but Damn what a drama. I was looking for some manga to read, and stumbled across an interesting synopsis for Ga-Rei, but then I noticed that there was an anime prequel titled Ga-Rei:Zero.

Hot Damn! I really did get shivers down my spine just from watching. The music was perfect in my mundane appreciation of it. Animation was smooth, and those first two episodes really sold me on it. At first I was un-enthralled by its stereotypical fast paced hero type setup. When BAM! any doubt I had of it being boring was shattered instantly. Uncouth for sure, but it sure did grab my attention.

Never during a series have I ever wanted a happy ending more, but still knew that I would not get one. The characters were good, not overdone, but still iconic in their own way. Certain things were a bit cheesy, but that's probably because I'm getting tired of the whole "slaying/sealing demons" premise. Seriously though, casting a magic barrier with an inscribed motorcycle tire? Am I supposed to take it seriously?

Either it was time well spent. As opposed to wasted I guess.

Finally, I finished it.

We all have our first true love upon discovering anime. There was the first time that I saw a "cool" looking cartoon, and then there was my first time watching the mainstream dubs only to discoverer that they were not cartoons but "anime". In line with that process was the first time I started watching anime just because it was anime. My friend let me borrow 3x3 eyes on DVD. It quickly became a very dear favorite.

However, most of us know, the anime series was more than just a little lacking. Thus I started my journey trying to find and read the manga version. For years, every chapter was available except for the last volume, and I was never able to finish it.
Just a month ago, I found that last scanlated volume, but, I dared not spoil the holy experience I was about to partake in my five year journey with Yakumo Fuji and Pai/Parvati. No, It would not be spoiled.

So, I started again. Straight from the beginning all the way to the end. 40 volumes, 576 chapters later, I was once again reminded of that first love. This series really is the perfect blend of action and romance for me. The battle escalated, the stakes raised, and in a cumulative synchronicity with my own journey to find this series it all came down to the last volume. Which was worth the devotion all this time.

Yakumoooo!!! PAIII!!! SANJIYAAAAN!! Haan!!! Youko-San! Kaiyanwang!!! BENARES!!

Wooo!
A Certain Magical Index. Very cool. I didn't know if I'd like it at first. I am usually 50/50 on those anime that have one guy and 15 different girls that are randomly attracted to him for usually shallow reasons.
This one, is something else. It doesn't compare to the intriguing plots of some, or the depth of character in other anime that I like. To make up for it though, it contains a sense of levity in spite of misfortune. I also enjoy the dichotomy between majutsu and science, as well as the main characters very interesting ability. The most fun is watching the "bad guys" try to figure out a way to kill him.
Ooohhh! and there a whole bunch of spin-offs and extras. This one will be enjoyable to get through. Three different 24 episode series, OVAs, Specials, and probably a movie somewhere down the line. Only time will tell.
Fukooodaaaaa!

Anime Relations: Bleach
Next time on Dragon Ball Z...! Did we hit Super Saiyan Seven? I think so. How many different level ups does Ichigo have?
I swear, every chapter I read I have to score Bleach lower and lower.
I liked Chaad, Inoue, and Ishida. What ever happened to those characters? I'd love to stick around for one more story arc, but as far as its gone I may just have to stop reading now. Not even the fight scenes are worth it anymore.
they should just do a spin off series starring Don Kanonji and Ichigo's sister. Oh wait, they already did that for anime filler.

Bleach: 4/10 (soon to be 3/10 as soon as the hiatus ends)

Anime Relations: Bouken Ou Beet
Holy smokes, I can't watch another episode. Beet the Vandal Buster must be aimed towards a much younger audience than I realized. I read as much of the manga as I could get my hands on (not much since I can't buy it right now) because I really liked the idea of someone who could stay awake for 3 days straight. There seemed like so much potential for great humor. Then I decided to give the anime a shot... but I guess it is not my flavor of ice-cream. Ohh nooo! A big monster. Uryaaa! A big sword. Hopefully, there is still some character development to come. I read a couple reviews on this site but I still can't tell if the anime is worth finishing. The more I watched, the less interested I became in the manga too. I am the type to watch anime just because it's an anime, so I wonder, does this anime/manga have any redeeming qualities? If not then I am in for a long 50 episodes.
