Anime doesn't exist!
I'm writing on an impulse, so I'm sorry for the mistakes and such in advance. I wrote an informal essay and one of the mistakes I supposedly made is using the word "anime".
I used it as both uncountable (anime and manga) and countable (an Anime Eureka Seven, ... as another anime Infinite Ryvius). And while this word exists for almost 40 years, while its usage is mentioned in the Wikipedia, while it can be found in TheFreeDictionary and in Macmillan English Dictionary 2007, our teacher (native speaker, American) thinks I shouln't use it and I'm expected to correct it, because it's not in a dictionary.
I really don't know how can I reason with him, because this isn't the only problem and I don't want to correct words and phrases which are correct, but he thinks otherwise...
I feel that using "anime" as a countable noun could be problematic, since it doesn't have any sensible plural form. But don't tell me that he honestly doesn't understand words like "time eater" or "slowcoach", both perfectly fine in an informal essay.
I'll have to write it all down so I can back up my opinions, geez, what a waste of time, both his and mine :/.
