Anime Relations: Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku

Today was special, no doubt about it. I just finished watching virtually the whole of Now and Then, Here and There... I can not begin to explain it's consequences.

I always found my ratings to be pretty objective, fact is I almost scare myself when I see how close my own ratings of certain anime are to their Average Viewer Score. But today it just went out the window.
What makes a perfect 10 score anime? I guess a lot of factors; animation quality, plot, characters even the background music. For me at least a '10' is something of true rarity. Fact of the matter is only 4 titles have recieved this distinction from me; namely the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs, Ghost in the Shell Movie, and GoldenBoy. They are all unique in their own right, but they had that 'extra' which is lacking in many others. Believe me a few had come VERY close, but somehow fell short because my objectivity and logic hampered down on the judgement mark... In short that 'extra' never shined bright enough... Not TODAY.
As I type this down, I am as yet filled with a sense of awe; a strange mix of sadness, excitement, relief, satisfaction, nervous... One could say I had fallen in love!? Maybe I did because Now and Then, Here and There went that 0.5 further. It tug at something at my very foundation, and thus came to share that common trait with those other 4. It is a series I will grow old with and still feel as excited rewatching it as from today. A '10' series is one that you will react to whenever you hear someone mention it; not with histeria, but with an unexplainable fondness. I might not be those crazed fans taking every opportunity to express their loyalty, but EACH title has shaped my life after watching it.
Kenshin; because of his struggle for atonement and that people should strive to find peace in their lives.
Ghost in the Shell; because of the animation, action and the most philosophically trenched plot I have as yet seen. This from a series which reviewed the whole 'How can you prove your own existence' 'Brain in a Vat' dilemma.
Goldenboy; for ALWAYS making me feel happier and because Kintaro proves that we should always learn from our experiences, no matter what they be.

and the recently appointed Now and Then, Here and There;
Because it has shown the atrocities of war, (makes Grave of the Fireflies seem like a child's play) and the struggle people have to hold onto their beliefs when at times things seem to be inevitable... the human cost to life basically...

These are anime I have taken a bit 'extra' from, a vital lesson in how to live my own life or build as a person, or simply to do that soulseeking.
So as you can see this has shook me, (and MAL since it obviously caused the server crash cuz of its grandness).
