17/22 episodes down - a liter of tears shed so far (1/2 of that amount coming in the past two episodes). Surely, there will be more on the way.

The season started out very mediocre. But jeez do these past seven episodes make up for it. So emotionally heart-wrenching to see a beloved character pass on, and at the peak of their love no less. I was literally crying for the first 10 minutes of the next episode, being that her death had set in.

Here's my review that I posted on Rotten Tomatoes about the film. Like the review says, it's my favorite film that I've seen this decade, and I see a lot of movies.

"Avatar" is not only the best movie I've seen in years, but it combines an original and compelling story with revolutionary visuals, a surprisingly good romance, and great action.

"Avatar" may give you your fill of an unoriginal colonialism plot-line, but understand that this is completely irrelevant to the enjoyment of the film. It may strike a chord as being "done before," but due to the fact that Cameron has created a world completely devoid of any third-party input, nullifies that gripe.

Something I wasn't expecting myself to find when I stepped into the theater this Friday night, was a love story that's been done better than some (hell, most) romantic comedies this year, if not for many years' previous. It's hard to explain exactly "Why" it had such a great effect on me, but it probably boils down to the fact that this story might have been a love story in disguise. It might sound ludicrous, but each time our hero "plugs in" (especially during the latter portions of the film) he remembers what a life he has within his synthetic body; he's reminded of thoughts of the main heroine (I can not, for the life of me, remember her name). It may be the overly-simplistic or matter-of-fact way that the natives treat the ordeal, but it almost becomes like that of a forbidden love. And unrequited love is the most engrossing and interesting love to watch as a movie-goer; love that has a change of failing.

The visuals were nothing short of:________
Unbelievable. You can really tell that five years went into making this film, and it has now become a measuring stick that other sci-fi or other visually-oriented films will have to compare themselves to. Too bad for them. I heard myself, as well as the friends and patrons around me inexplicably mutter "Wow" at certain parts within the film.

People may argue that this is just another pretty face compared to all the other films that are so rich and deep, but I say that Cameron has found the ideal combination of both; a feat rarely seen in film: something gorgeous to look at, but not something you're gonna regret waking up with the next day.

I would love to hear some feedback about what you thought of the film. Agree, disagree, thoughts, speculation etc.

As I've been using this site more and more to find good romance animes to view, as I've been churning through most like a hot knife through butter, I've encountered this nice little feature.

If you're reading this, you can probably tell this is my first blog post, but I hope to write more in the future to convey opinions, feelings, etc. around anime I might like or dislike, or, potentially, topics that aren't even related to anime.

I'll probably end up titling upcoming blogs with the same title as this one: "Killin' time" to encompass an overall theme and if people are interested in what I write, hopefully it will convey a sense of "inconsistency". As in, I won't come out with a blog post every Monday because I don't want to force myself to write; I want to write what's on my mind. But also because I'm waiting for the new episodes of the second season of Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Purezza to be released. :P

I'm a huge romance anime (new to the site and to anime in general) enthusiast and like to religiously watch animes up until completion. I tend to stick with the anime through the good, the bad, and the ugly, and haven't dropped a series yet. A feat which I plan on keeping unblemished. However, some shows' episodes I just had to stop and turn them off. (I'm looking at you, Seto no Hanayome.)
---
I've watched a fair-share of romance anime, some I've really enjoyed, some... not so much.
Surprisingly, my gateway into anime in general was the American-created anime "Avatar: The Last Airbender". A show which I truly, truly loved (even converted a few friends in the process. :P). Although many loved it for varying reasons: the action, the story, the dialog, the art, etc., I seemed to like it for a completely different reason; a reason which I couldn't lay my finger on. Then, after one trip to YouTube to check to see if the "'Tubers" that I had subscribed to had posted any videos, I looked down at the "Recommended for You" portion of the homepage. (I usually like to view the videos that pop-up in here. Sometimes you can find a hidden gem.) I scrolled down and I saw something called "School Rumble - episode [something], Part 1". For some reason or another I clicked on it, watched it, watched Part 2, 3, and continued to work my through a few more episodes.
I loved it!
I started from the beginning and moved on from there, through the first season, leaving comments on videos here and there, but allowing myself to like what I was watching. Eventually, I completed the series and even tried my hand at reading a few School Rumble Z mangas. After failing miserably, I got the synopsis from these boards' forums and was pleased with the outcome they had decided on, but frustrated they hadn't incorporated it into the anime. Then, I figured out why I'd liked Avatar so much; my reasons for not liking the decision to not do a prologue after, what we Avatards simply refer to as, "The Kiss" (Kataang4life). It was because I was engrossed in the love aspect of the series. Sure the action was awesome - something I loved about the show, but what really got me was the moments between the two main characters (Aang and Katara).

Yep. A little background on how my interest in the romance genre first came about. I'm sure there will be much, much more to come.
