Thoughts on Akira
Anime Relations: Akira
Now, this is a classic (and a movie). So I watched it. It wasn't for me.
What I like about the movie is, the setting. The chaotic plot and setting are the only things that kept me intrigued in the whole movie.
What I don't like about the movie is, dialogue. I watched this in dub and there's a lot of sci-fi mumbo jumbo dialogue in here. Now, it isn't a problem as long as it's interesting. The movie just dumped a lot of dialogue in one elevator scene and other scenes followed which I really made me bored. I prefer gradually reveling the plot points instead of massively dumping everything at one/two scenes. I just too feel overwhelmed or 2deep4me mode kicks in and I just watch it for the sake of it. Not to mention, the ending is kinda similar to NGE ending which again, I'm not a big fan of. And this might be unpopular opinion, but I don't think the animation is really great. Sure, maybe it was great at the time, but I didn't really feel the sakuga that much. Maybe because I watched some other great new action Anime I didn't really felt like it.
A Classic Anime that wasn't for me.

Thoughts on The Boy and the Beast
Anime Relations: Bakemono no Ko
My 2nd Mamooru Hosoda film. I actually didn't have any special reason to watch this movie. It's because it's a movie I gave it a watch. And it was OK.
What I like about the film is, the first half. This little boy accidentally stepped into the beast world and started to grow under a beast. It's wholesome and fun seeing two people from different backgrounds or race helping each other and growing together. It's like a parental relationship. And of course, the animation is great as expected from films.
What I don't like about the film is, the second half. The film tried to build a conflict but did an underwhelming job in it. The drama didn't worked, most of the second boring and same goes to the finale.
Underwhelming.

Thoughts on Katanagatari
Anime Relations: Katanagatari
I actually watched an episode of this long before I decided to watch startes watching this (It's when I completed Made in Abyss, I think). But I made a big mistake. Instead of episode 1, I straight up started with episode 12, which if you guys know is actually where the biggest spoiler of the show literally starts with. Worse, I didn't realized yet. I thought this series did something like what "I want to Eat your Pancreas" did like revealing biggest spoiler at the beginning, but NO. It didn't. And the fact that these episodes don't have title or episode screens like other Anime, made me completely oblivious about the big mistake I made. So, I didn't watched it for a long time. After that, downloaded the episodes for this one and thought that I'll watch it when I completely forget about the spoiler. Even though, I couldn't forgot this Anime really had an amazing journey.
What I like about the series are, the characters, art style, fight sequences and the romance between the main leads. Every character has an interesting set of swords & sometimes even back stories that gives a much deeper look into their character. I think this is one of the most beautiful Anime I've seen. Both in terms of production & writing. I was thoroughly entertained seeing main leads going on this grand adventure of collecting swords with Togame, the brain & strategist and Shichika, a swordless swordsman who know nothing besides martial arts. There are a lovable duo and their relationship starts to grow when we learn about their backstories. The fights are pretty excellent too. Well animated and beautiful. And we can't about NISIOISIN without mentioning the dialogue. The dialogue was pretty fast paced & while it took a little time to adjust the speed, it was pretty good.
The only thing I don't like is again, my big mistake I made in the beginning. Personally there aren't many things I dislike about this show except it might become a little boring at one or two moments, but it was a great watch overall.
I only wish I haven't did that big mistake so I could've enjoyed to a much greater extent.

Thoughts on Non Non Biyori
Anime Relations: Non Non Biyori
I remember it was somewhere in March last year, I watched this Anime. I searched for Summery Anime and this (and a few others) came as recommendations. And I learnt a great lesson from this Anime.
What I like about the series is, the whole summery mood. The village setting, the characters and the overall tone is pretty laid back which makes it a very easy to watch and a fun show. The comedy isn't great but it was subtle enough to pass as laughably good. And This thing still lives rent free in my head.
What I don't like about the series is my overall experience. There isn't anything particularly bad with these kinda shows. They only does what they are trying to do but my ass wanted to clean off my PTW fast so I just binged the entire thing, forcing myself which left me with a boring feeling throughout the show. This is actually a drawback for every Iyasheiki Anime. You can't enjoy it if you take as a full meal. You need to take it in bits and pieces, slowly and queitly. Atleast, that's how it is for me.
So, yeah. I don't have a good experience with this one.

Thoughts on Children of the Sea
Anime Relations: Kaijuu no Kodomo
So, I was keep searching for Anime to watch when my PTW is plenty stacked with like 100 Anime (The life of an Anime fan)... and I just saw This video of Anime Man roasting Funimation awards (which I didn't even know they even held) and somewhere in the video (in the "Beat Movie of the decade" department, I think) he recommended to watch this Movie. I haven't heard about the film at all, except him saying it has great animation. So, I checked it out and yes, it has great animation but we all know only great animation can't make a great story.
What I about the movie is, undoubtedly the Animation and art style. The water sequences, the character animation and pretty much every movement in this movie is so breathtakingly beautiful. Even though, the plot isn't making much sense, I just enjoyed the beautiful animation. This is probably one of the Anime movie I wished I watched in theaters. I really wish that would've enhanced the experience to the peak.
What I don't like about the movie is, there's literally no cohesive plot. The characters, a girl and two boys all connected by something and I really have no idea what or how that works. And if I remember correct, some decisions made by few characters feel so stupid that I have to ignore in order to enjoy the movie. While I kinda understand what's happening in the first half, I really don't understand or even remember what happened in the second half; which I'm not surprised when I found that they adapted 5 volumes (43 chapters) into a 2 hr film so I kinda understood why it felt so rushed but still as much as the creators focussed on the animation, they didn't really focussed the plot, which made it quite boring to watch.
A "Non-shinkai" Shinkai film, if you understand what I mean.
