How I use my List
Some habits I kind of picked up overtime, while I was adding stuff...
General
• I only add an entry if I have completed the first episode/chapter
• I don't add shorts that are around under 10 minutes
• Yes, I usually skip fillers, even it I mark an entry as complete. I'm sure others are guilty of doing the same thing
• I rate when I obtain a clear picture on my thoughts about the series (can be anytime while, or after, watching it)
For entries with blank episode/chapter numbers
• For watching/reading entries: The streaming service I use already keeps track of where I left off, so I find it redundant to log it here
• For my on-hold and dropped entries: I have absolutely no clue where I left off and I should probably start over if I pick it up again
I use my tags in two ways. Both ways can be within the same entry
• Short general comments: Always use for both completed and dropped entries
• One-word reminders, separated by commas: Never use for dropped entries

Objectivity and Subjectivity in Art: Best vs. Favourite
These are just my general thoughts on the best vs. favourite argument, including my perspective on objective and subjective components.
More or less, this is just a retort to those "objectivity and enjoyment" threads, cluttering the forum for the past month or so...
---
I believe that evaluating anime, let alone any art form, is not objective and is entirely subjective interpretation. Objective statements are only tautologies based on natural phenomena studied from mathematics and certain departments of science. There are no universally weighted priorities on what makes a work of art "good" or "bad", despite the encouraged common practices in art that we use today. Art and beauty are based on the eye of the beholder. Artists focus on what makes something subjectively good, based on their own personal tastes and our current social constructs. Most people seem to be believe that character development is a very important tool to create a compelling story. 200 years from now, how are we supposed to know if character development still qualifies as good? Take 50's rock in the west for example. My grandparents love the bands that played back then, while my parents think said bands are trash. We can't say 50's music is "objectively good" when there are varying opinions over it. Art is meant to convey emotions, and we can't say that someone is objectively wrong for feeling the way they do, after experiencing any piece of artwork.
With all of that said, I do still believe that "best" can still be separated from "favourite" in the context of entertainment.
Best and favourite are both subjective terms, in this case.
I look at art considering two things:
1) How I directly felt about the work personally: My personal, emotional, and potentially irrational, connection/enjoyment towards it.
2) What I appreciate and respect from the production's technical factors. (What some people seem to perceive as "objective")
(1) can be pretty self-explanatory, so I'll talk about (2):
This becomes a "what I like vs. what I appreciate" kind of thing, at this point. What I appreciate and respect from art does not necessarily always mean that it's something I would enjoy. (2) takes on considerations, such as my interpretation of the artwork's novelty, animation style, voice modulation, author's intent, and other technical details that are not always directly linked towards my personal connection to the work itself.
Having art and writing as a hobby for a while, as well as hearing from other people's experiences on story-writing and illustrating: I learned to pick up a few things I can value from an art form (those values being novelty, intent, etc.), and how those values would be able to make something enjoyable. I understand that it can take loads of brainpower to make a crafty story. I like to give that credit to where I believe it's due, despite my enjoyment towards it. Mind you, I'm not trying to sound pretentious with "muh experience": I'm saying that people can pick up what kind of things they can appreciate/respect overtime, whether it can be from developing technical storytelling experience, picking up certain patterns from what they liked, comparing other quality works to each other, etc. These values vary for each person. I value believable interactions and originality, while someone else could put more value into a cohesive plot and story. This is still subjective bias, albeit interpolating the objective attributes from a work.
This may all sound contrived and arbitrary, and yes it is. However, that's not how I see it, since this arbitrary criteria represents what I also value in the entertainment medium as a whole, which is then reflected onto my overall thoughts. It has nothing to do with regarding the opinions of others, as I can find what I respect and appreciate from a piece on my own without looking into someone else's, let alone a collective group's, thoughts about it. Something brilliantly made does not always entail that it's emotionally captivating to an individual. I also find it fun breaking down and critically analyzing a piece of work, beyond my own emotions. I personally see it as an extra step towards enjoying the medium.
(1) appeals to my emotions
(2) appeals to my sense of logic and technical craftsmanship
Favourite = (1)
Best = (1) and (2) combined
These two often overlap and work with each other. (1) shows what I directly liked about the work, but (2) shows what I liked about how said work was used within its own medium, as a whole, hence what I indirectly liked about it. For other people, their best and favourite can mean the exact same thing. These people are not wrong, either. The words "best" and "favourite" don't specify what a person values and also don't specify what they don't value. We may have custom definitions for what defines "the best", as it already seems to be a very vague term that's being thrown around. I highly doubt that everyone can really agree on what would make something "the best", in terms of the entertainment medium itself.
When it comes to art: objective quality does not exist, but best and favourite can be separated based on our own subjective parameters.
