Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid

  • Half a step away from being a hentai
  • Just started to get truly interesting at the end of the series
  • Liked Mirei the most due to her type of personality
  • Watched this one because it was at least somewhat different than most of what I've watched before
  • Might suggest people who liked this series to check our Burst Angel or Canaan if they enjoyed the Yuri "romance" side of things in this series, Sekirei if they enjoy the PLOT, and if they liked Mirei's more serious side then Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls (also for the PLOT) and Rosario+Vampire.

Fruits Basket

  • Had that 90s or early 00s feel to the characters or settings (possibly the amount of detail in those or something).
  • My first foray into the Reverse-Harem genre (to my recollection). Figured I had seen so many regular Harem shows that it was time to see the other side of things.
  • A friend of mine mentioned that to her Tohru was too perfect, which made her more difficult to relate to. While I think I was able to relate to her enough my friend may have had a point, inasmuch as Tohru is kind of on a different level. The only other time I've felt similarly about a character was with Belldandy from the Oh! My Goddess! anime series from the 00s.
  • My favorite character was most likely Shigure due to his personality and humor during most of the series.
  • Felt like the last conflict in the series was resolved too quickly.
  • Second to last conflict seemed (to me) to come out of nowhere in a way.
  • Overall quite an enjoyable series; enough so that I would like to check out the manga at some point.
  • Already plan to check out Ouran High School Host Club sometime, but what other Reverse-Harems would everyone recommend?

Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon

  • Could see why so many people are fans of Hestia.
  • Think the main character became a bit too powerful too quickly.
  • Series ended when things seemed to be getting more interesting.
  • Really liked Ais Wallenstein and her interactions with Bell, but also enjoyed Bell's relationship with Hestia as well.
  • Would definitely like to check out the manga to see what else happens after where the anime leaves off.
  • There was a little confusion for me with Bell having the stats and abilities, but otherwise there was no game involved, but just a real world/life.

Gunsmith Cats: Burst

  • Just can't get into Rally's choice of her second vehicle.
  • Sonada did a pretty good job of following the feel of the previous series, but there seemed to be at least a little difference.
  • The ending felt a little..odd..to me.

Hello everybody,

I wanted to take a little time and share some of the details from my past couple weeks since it's been quite a while since I've made a legitimate blog post on here. It was quite the weekend compared to what I'm usually doing, which is almost always a welcome change.

Friday night I went out to hang out with a group of friends, and while we mainly did our usual thing (just chatting about this and that, playing games on our phones and 3DS systems, and watching wacky YouTube videos) we also got to mix things up with several matches of Pool. I'm actually fairly bad at the game, but managed not to scratch the Cue Ball and hit somebody in the Knee like I did last time. ^^; Overall I made a few decent shots, and won a few games, but not necessarily due to any amount of real skill of my own.

Early Saturday morning I finished the main story in Fire Emblem: Awakening, which I really enjoyed. Once I beat a couple of other games I fully intend to go back and play through all the extra stages and DLC, but for now it's going on the back burner. Saturday afternoon had me trying Chimichangas for the first time at one of my favorite local restaurants, which were pretty good. Sometimes I just like to try new things on a whim, but this time it was absolutely due to the fact that I had recently seen Deadpool (probably one of my favorite Comic-based movies so far). After a period of lethargy brought on my the food a friend came over to the house and hung out for a bit before we decided to watch some more One Punch Man, which is also probably one of my favorite anime at the moment. While I have been trying to mix it up and not watch the same type of anime one after the other I've found that in the last year or two the series with over-the-top action, characters, and situations really appeal to me. Perhaps this started way back in High School when I saw Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu for the first time and fell in love with its ridiculousness, but more recently Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma, Kill la Kill, and One Punch Man have all resonated very well with me.

On Sunday some friends and I got up early to attend the National Arms Show at the Atlanta Expo Center, which didn't take us too long to get to. It's been many years since I've had anything close to an active interest in firearms and knives, but I did see a few guns I remember looking into back then, as well as a couple of handguns that I didn't expect to see at the event. After looking around there for a couple hours we rushed over to the Plaza Theatre to see Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekkestsu-hen, which wasn't too bad. I really like to support anime movies when they come to theaters in my area, to help show there is demand, but there just wasn't enough in Tekketsu-hen to justify going back twice to finish the story. Unfortunately I don't think I was alone with this sentiment as the folks sitting around us also seemed to expect more as well. The Plaza Theatre itself wasn't a bad place, and the area around it seemed pretty safe during mid-day.

After leaving the movie we were back on the road and heading towards my favorite Japanese restaurant, Shoya Izakaya. We actually arrived a little earlier than we expected so while we waited for them to open we browsed through H Mart, which is in the same shopping strip, where we tried not to reinforce White stereotypes, ate a few samples, and bought a small load of junk food to take back home. Once the restaurant opened for the dinner crowd we dropped off our loot in the car and made our way inside. The restaurant has the most authentic Japanese feel I've yet to experience and they weren't super busy that night so we got seated pretty quickly. We decided to get an order of Takoyaki to split and then I got the Beef Sukiyaki Don while my friends got a bowl featuring Udon noodles, an Unagi Don, and a bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen. Everyone seemed to enjoy it despite one of my friends not being able to use chopsticks very well and refusing to use anything else, but I suppose that's one way to get better. ^^;

Once I got everyone back home I was pretty exhausted from the day, but did start Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright to get the ball rolling on that game. I decided on +Skill for my Boon, -Luck for Bane, and Dark Knight as a secondary class since I couldn't figure out what else to pick. I didn't get through many chapters before calling it a night, but have been playing it regularly since.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed hearing a bit about my last couple of weeks, and if you've been up to something that others might be interested in why not create a blog post about it? Thanks for reading and have a good week everybody. ^_^

Hello again everyone! I just wrapped up Inuyasha (after what seems like a couple of months) and I really enjoyed it. The series was definitely longer than other anime I usually watch but for one reason or another it didn't feel like there was a lot of filler episodes and I don't think I ever regretting starting to watch the series. In my opinion it ended quite nicely and the music throughout the series was very well done (easily matching my opinion of the music in the .hack series of games and anime). I feel a bit refreshed after finishing the story as I remember first seeing bits and pieces of it as a young teen on Toonami but I never got into watching it back then. During the many hours I spent watching this anime (especially in the first few seasons) I would often feel a sense of nostalgia during the openings and closings. I hope this series (and others) would also stir up fond memories for you all as well like it has for me. When I get the spare money I definitely want to add this one to my currently small collection (you have to start somewhere right?).

On a slightly seperate note I've been looking on RightStuf to see if I could narrow down what I'd like to get with a gift certificate a friend gave me for Christmas. Just off the top of my head I can think of many series I'd like to get including Full Metal Panic, Initial D, Clannad, and Yukikaze. So much I'd like to get and do; so little time and money! ^_^

I hope you all have a great weekend.
