As the title would state, I don't feel that Anime is appealing on it's own anymore.

What I mean by this exactly, given it's something I feel, but it doesn't mean others will.

I feel that a lot of anime back in the day, or prior to the recent boom of some of the more bigger ones that had started in 2012, were a bit more consistent.

Not to say Anime itself as it is right now isn't consistent, it is, but there is a charm that some series Pre 2012 have going for them that just make me feel.. stunned if anything.

Anime is just another form of entertainment, it's always going to be, but I feel sometime after the popularity of some Anime in 2012, some series are actually lacking what used to make the medium so great to me as a whole.

Older series have genres out the ass, have this good balance of content, whether it's characters, setting, quirky animation, comedy, action, & so on. Anime was chock full of that & it's something that Shou Aikawa himself had stated back at Anime Expo sometime in 2015. Anime doesn't focus on a plethora of things anymore, it focuses on one thing & sometimes falls a bit too short of what it should have been.

It's the truth, which is why he even went onto creating Concrete Revolutio, since I had gone to that DAISUKI Industry Panel & had heard him make that clear. I was rather impressed, but I also was happy to know he could pinpoint an actual problem in the industry as it is currently.

I have to watch more anime now a days from a perspective. Perspective watching is what I do, as I most of the time, have to create a reason to enjoy a series, I have to force myself into a specific mindset in order to be entertained, which is kind of saddening, but with anime only having one focus now a days, what else am I supposed to do? If I can't enjoy the one thing they want to focus on, I'll focus on something else by putting myself into the position to do such.

Having a lot of genres isn't a bad thing, honestly, I'd greatly appreciate it if we were to have some more super powered action anime that have idols, mechs, ghosts, & so forth. It's something a lot of long running series lack currently, ones that would more or less be considered apart of the Shounen demographic. We lack a lot of these, but Shounen is always going to be entertaining one way or another, although I don't consider it a genre, since it's not.

I just feel we need more anime like Concrete Revolutio or Re:Creators, which is currently airing in this Spring 2017 season & heading into the Summer season. I'm in love with the type of show that Re:Creators is & that is something I can thoroughly enjoy.

However, I feel so bad having to force myself to enjoy some specific series, because I know I want to enjoy them, I know I do, but sometimes I feel like I can't get the proper enjoyment out of it because they are lacking a kind of dynamic that would set them apart from all the rest that it's most likely similar to. This is well, kind of the case with School Battle Harem anime if you must know, but I sort of enjoy those, it's kind of like a guilty pleasure that is done right most of the time lol

Anime doesn't have much diversity among it's own series anymore, rather, it lacks dynamics which made it so amazing, now a days we get one thing at a time, but also an excess amount of anime released each passing season. I'm not against a ton of anime being released, but they all do keep to one focus & never go outside of the box with their ideas that are introduced. Can we get more of that?

Can I stop forcing myself to watch from a perspective that probably doesn't exist within the show itself?

I feel like I can't express this as much through text, but I don't think anime is bad by any means, it's just kind of a shame to see it focus on one thing all the time, as it lacks a dynamic which would allow them to explore other ideas that they're constantly throwing your way.

You come out of an anime now a days with satisfaction for the ending possibly, but you still have more questions about the series & it's pacing, than you do actual answers, which to me is kind of a bad thing unless it's deemed a controversial series.
