Soul Eater shipping
Anime Relations: Soul Eater
Warning: I'm discussing my opinions on shipping here. If you don't want to read it, don't. And if you don't agree, don't bash me. And if you find this pointless, don't read it.
I know most of you like Maka/Soul as a pairing, and to an extent, I like it too. But it's not my favorite pairing of the series, and I seriously don't think it's a sure thing like everyone seems to think.
I kind of hate it that people usually pair the weapon/meister pairings as romantic pairs. It's the easy way, but a lot of them don't make sense.
Here are my favorite pairings:
Crona/Maka (the series actually seems to like this a lot, too.)
Kid/Maka (I support both... OTL. But not at the same time. I think I'm more of a Kid/Maka person, though)
Black Star/Tsubaki (the only 'easy' pairing I like.)
Soul/Tsubaki (No idea why..)
Stein/Marie
Free/Eruka
As for why:
Like I said, I like Soul/Maka. But I like Kid/Maka or Crona/Maka more. I would suspect that if Soul and Maka were to be more than just partners, they'd just argue all the time, and that it'd ultimately kind of end up like what happened with her dad, since they keep Blair around and all. Also, I see them as like siblings, or something of that nature.
Kid and Maka seem to have a good friendship, and at the very least, Kid seems to like Maka in that way. I'm not totally sure when, but when one enemy threatens to hurt people close to Kid, he ONLY mentions Maka. He also does this again on another occasion (only mentions Maka).
It's either he only values her as a friend, or she's the first person he thinks of, therefore he at least has a crush on her. And since Maka is another one of those people who tolerates Kid's symmetry obsession, and both seem to be mature for their age, it does work.
Crona/Maka may as well be canon. Maka seems to obsess over Crona in a way that is either creepy obsessive, or a crush. I could understand wanting to save your friend when they're in trouble, but she seems to go above and beyond for him. And in turn, he specifically only ever mentions her, and only seems to have interest in her. Not to mention there's one of the last few chapters in the manga, where he specifically mentions waiting for her. And only her.

As to the others, since 2 are canon, I don't feel I need to explain it.
And as for Free/Eruka, they do go together well, but unfortunately, the series doesn't go into it much. But I'm all for the pairing.
