Anime Relations: Durarara!!
Alright! So here’s how this thing works (thank Digibro for giving me the idea). I selected the top 20 most popular anime on MAL that I have NOT watched yet and I’ll be going through them one by one. This should go without saying but long-running shows don't count (I'm looking at you, Fairy Tail). Here’s the catch - each show is selected randomly using the website random.org. I'll assign a number to each of these shows from 1 to 20, so the number it lands on depicts what the show is. Here's the lineup:

1. Clannad
2. Sword Art Online II
3. Durarara!!
4. Highschool of the Dead
5. Psycho-Pass
6. Kill la Kill
7. Akame ga Kill!
8. AnoHana
9. Guilty Crown
10. Deadman Wonderland
11. Your Lie in April
12. Parasyte
13. Tokyo Ghoul Root A
14. Darker Than Black
15. The Devil is a Part Timer
16. Black Butler
17. Ouran High School Host Club
18. Death Parade
19. High School DxD
20. Chuunibyou

As you can see, its quite a variety of genres, from action/adventure, to ecchi, to high school dramas... I'm not going to lie, it is a really mixed bag here. I'm pretty hyped to watch some of these shows but others, not so much. Anyways, onto the challenge!

Anime #1: Durarara!! (started 4/17/2017)

I was excited to start off with this one. It looked interesting, if nothing else. Going into it, I knew pretty much nothing about the series except for the fact that the plot is unique and non-linear, similar to Baccano!. I was drawn into it quickly due to the theme of how everyone is connected and I loved how there are tons of characters. Speaking of characters, some of them are fucking badass! Overall, I had a pretty good time, even though the plot (or what semblance of a plot there is lol) is very long-winded and some parts can get kinda tedious, especially in the second half when the pacing gets damn slow. So yeah, 1 anime down and 19 more to go! This is probably me being pessimistic but I feel like the next one will be bad lol.

Anime #2: Black Butler (started 4/24/2017)

Eh, I guess it could've been worse. I didn't enjoy it per se but it was definitely more interesting than I initially thought. I wasn't a fan of the shota vibes but the Victorian setting and gothic backdrop was certainly interesting, to say the least. Some episodes are pretty exciting or use drama very well while others can be quite boring. My personal favorite episode was the one with the curry competition (lol). It actually wasn't a bad show but I grew bored of it very quickly, mostly because of how OP Sebastian is. It had its moments but for what its worth, it was just "okay". The second half was definitely WAY better than the first. Anyways, onto the next one!

Anime #3: Your Lie in April (started 4/30/2017)

Oh shit, that was depressing. Very melodramatic and kept me watching until the end. I won't overlook its flaws but I can safely say that this is a very well-done drama series. I've always been a fan of classical music and its very refreshing and enjoyable to see an anime about it. I grew to like the characters and the comedy had its moments but the selling point was definitely the abundance of drama. Relentlessly soul-crushing yet beautiful at the same time. Also, to reiterate, that last episode tho... If I get Clannad or AnoHana next I'm going to kill myself.

Anime #4: AnoHana (started 5/6/2017)

Are you kidding me... The first 1-cour series so far! Also made me tear up at the end. An absolutely gorgeous series. I'd even go as far as saying its a masterpiece. The characters and story were very well developed and the themes it explored were interesting. I'd say that everyone could probably take something from this show. If you haven't watched it, GO! I don't even want to spoil anything in the first few episodes since its probably best for everyone to experience it on their own with little prior knowledge. Then watch Your Lie in April because it will also crush your soul, if you have one. :)

And we are done with part 1 (I need a break from this haha)... 16 to go.
