Anime Relations: Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
This blog is going to be a what I hope to be short explanation of my problem with 'Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun' or 'My Little Monster.'

For those who do not know I actually dropped the series quite a while ago due to the fact that at the time I seemed to be dropping anime left right and center. However a not too long after it seemed to gain quite a lot of popularity and so I decided to pick it up again.

Now to get to the point: What exactly is wrong with Tonari No Kaibutsu?

At the end of the first episode itself, Haru, our male protagonist, confesses his love for the female protagonist Shizuku. That is understandable considering he's never had any friends before, people who stick up for so naturally when Shizuku does that he says he loves.

I was okay with this until in the second episode when Shizuku confesses that she loves him too. No, just no.

No matter what Disney says you cannot fall in love with someone you just met. You can fall in love with their looks, (Kisa from Seki-Ichi Hatsukoi), but you cannot fall in love with them.

I understand Haru's feelings since he's new to all this but Shizuku? She is potrayed as this independant and intelligent character which is part of the reason this annoyed me/

I consider love to be a strong word that shouldn't be tossed around so casually like it was done in this series.

Everything is so rushed. I mean if the two main characters already love each other and know about each other's feelings, what's the point of the show?

If you think this is all, you are clearly mistaken. I think it was episode six when Shizuku announces: "I'm not attracted to you anymore."

What?

You cannot just go up to a person and say that to their face regardless of how blunt you are and I do consider myself a blunt person.

Also, how can you not be attracted to Haru? Have you seen how many fangirls he has?

I just can't stand the back and forth cycle.

I'm not so sure why so many people like the show. Maybe it's the comedy, or Haru... actually I think it's just Haru but anyway, I still don't understand why or how people and watch it and call it a really good show.

And so I bring this rant which was originally supposed to be brief to an end. This is just for anyone who wonders why I do not like the series.

Until next time,
stay obsessive.
