The garden never saw so much blood in its hundred something years of existence. The bodies that lay among the garden crushed the rows of golden red stained flowers. Suddenly a pile of bodies shifted and a young girl of no more than 15 sat bolt upright causing the nearby carrion birds to flee. She looked around and noticed that the entire village had been destroyed.

High on a cliff only miles away from the library, two weary travelers approached a crossroads, to the left the town of King’s Corner and Northpoint. Thomas noticed a slight movement in the bushes and looked towards Maril, who nodded back. Minutes later Thomas reflected a crossbow bolt with a magic shield causing a score of king’s men to rush to surround them.

“Way to go Thomas, you succeeded in making them mad!”

“Well it isn’t my fault that there was more then you estimated”

Suddenly a soldier who looked to be a captain strolled up. “Both of you shut up! Why are you two travelling towards Northpoint!?”

“We are on our way to gain knowledge that would otherwise be lost! We seek the prophecies that are said to be kept by a lone widow in Northpoint.” Thomas tried to explain.

“Rubbish! You are under arrest for supplying false information to the King’s men!”

“What King allows his man to take travelers any time they want!? This is useless, if I so wanted to I could turn the bunch of you into toads and send the people of King’s Corner after you!” It was well known by everybody that the children of King’s Corner loved to catch the frogs as pets. “And besides, my travelling buddy here can down three of you before she even dismounts.”

Although they seemed visually shaken the man did not back down. “I am sorry sir but you will have to come with me now”

“Never! I go my own way!” With that Thomas released a flash of light and began to swell. As Thomas grew to the size of the nearest trees half of the royal company fled. The other half began to get into position to attack. As Maril dismounted she threw 2 of her hidden daggers from her boots, causing the two nearest guards to fall back in shock and they realized the daggers had missed them, however they had caught their belts. The captain stood still in shock as he witnessed his entire company flee no matter what he shouted. “Now, why don’t you leave before you get hurt too guard!”

“Never,” screamed the remaining captain, “I will fight to my death!” As the captain rushed Thomas, a flash came out of nowhere. The captain stood still as all eyes turned towards Maril, who was in shock as well. As the captain rushed again, another flash happened, this time the captain lay on the ground unconscious.

Maril looked on in shock. “What just happened Thomas?”

“I have not a clue”

Just then a girl walked out of the nearby bushes carrying three little bags in her hands. Thomas noticed her first and asked “Who are you? What are those bags? Where did that flash come from?”

The girl simply looked at Thomas and ran to hide behind Maril. “Ahh look what you did Tom! You scared her! Don’t worry little girl he won’t hurt you.” As Maril turned towards the little girl she noticed that the girl was crying. “Ahh come now! Don’t cry, there is no need too!”

Suddenly the little girl spoke to Maril, with a depressed sounding voice she stated “My name is Amaelvah, but most call me Ama, these bags are what caused the flash, all you need is a little bit of fire with one to ignite it. Please don’t hurt me; the village of Northpoint has been destroyed by those very guards that attacked you.”

Thomas looked in shock, then turned away and began to mount his horse. Maril turned to look at him and asked “Where are we heading to now?”

Thomas looked back with eyes that seem to have lost joy in life and simply said “We find why the guards attacked and destroyed an entire village!” Without looking to see if Maril and Ama followed, he began to ride down the road towards Northpoint.

So I decided that since I was really bored it would be time to write a story of somesort, and it just happens that MAL is a wonderful mean of letting other people read it. Afterall why create something only to destroy it before anyone can say something bad about it? :)

I know its not the best but it is my first attempt! Please don't hold back anything you dislike about it haha. Be brutally honest, however atleast do attempt to say how I may be able to improve it. Anyway here we go!

Thomas suddenly found himself in a position of travelling with a campanion. Thomas Que-Taiylt, an apprentice mage recently left the academy in hopes of finding knowledge long lost in the world. He stood at roughly 5 and a half feet tall and was scrawny looking, although more than able to take care of himself. Thomas had long, brown hair that hung down bordering his face. He looked over at his campanion who he had just recently explained the basics of riding to. She was a beatiful young girl with long redish coloured hair tied back behind her head. Although she wore loose fiting clothes Thomas could sense the daggers she wore in her sleeves. Marilsasya looked over at Thomas and caught his eyes, Thomas turned away almost immediatly causing Maril to laugh. Maril was lost in thought about her current travel arangements, she had waited in ambush for a lone traveller and had attempted to rob him, however she found herself now travelling with that same person. She had underestimated a traveller and having been bested in combat, by any means as was the code she followed, she felt obliged to escort Thomas to his destination so that no theifs would attempt to bother him at this time.

"We turn off at the next fork and head towards the library of Chamoge"

Suddenly hearing Thomas talk jolted Maril out of her thoughts. She looked ahead and judged the distance to be around three miles.

"Why would you want to head to a library? What treasure could you possably find there?"

Thomas, quick to anger simply stated "There is more to life then knick-knacks picked off of an honourable citizen" and with that rode ahead and cut off any retort back. He could not wrap his head around this girl. Although he was judged to be one of the smartest to ever attend the academy he found judgeing people to be hard and not worth his time. Although being told many times about the code that Maril follows he still wondered why she was still accompanying him. Thomas took this time of silence to take a look around his surroundings. He noticed that throughout the dense forest area people were always ready to attack him as he turned a corner until they saw the garb of his companion. He thought it strange that theives would honour any code when he was always taught that they were renegades and followed no rules. As they rode up to the gate of the library he was about to find out that there was alot more to the world then he know, no matter how wise he was judged to be.

The fight at the library started because the leading noble's son did not like Thomas, the son feared all magic users. Although his father, the Duke of Chamoge had arranged a room in the library for Thomas and Maril, as was the custom to any travelling mage of any rank, his son had opposed and said that they should be thrown out for intruding on their land. The next day in the library the Duke's son had approached Thomas and made it clear that he detested all of his kind and that he should leave immediatly before thigns become bad, Thomas refused to listen to the son. Having enough of a "high and mighty" mage, the duke's son then hit Thomas in the chin, before Thomas could react, Maril was upon the boy and had him on the ground in front of the stunned common room. The guards came in moments after hearing a fight break loose and apprehanded Thomas and Maril. Having spent some time in the carefully prepared rooms they had received, it was nothing more than a dank dungeon, Thomas and Maril were finally allowed to see the Duke. After explaining the events both travellers were released off of the library lands and told not to return.

"Hmph! Some fine son he has raised!" Maril stated, "did you gain what you seek?" she asked the customary question of theives.
"I gained nothing from that library! What I seek however can not be gained only in the library!"
"Well what is the plan now?"
"For now, we move on. Who knows where we will go."
"Well I hope it is somewhere pleasent, with valuables to misplace"

Despite himself Thomas smiled at the reply of the theive. "We shally travel the path until we reach the next town." Little did Thomas realize that upon turning that corner only 3 miles north of the library that the royal army scouts would be waiting to aprehand him.
