I tried reading some Kyou Koi wo Hajimemasu (:Today I will fall in love!), as per my secret shoujo manga habit. It started off well enough, with plenty of scenes making me gasp like a prude... which I am, but uh... anyway. Recently whenever I try to read shoujo I start comparing the heroines to Tsukushi, and it never ends well for them.

Since I'm a guy (and straight, not that anyone cares), I don't know how feminist I should be about shoujo manga, but I'm always like "dude he just like... sexually assaulted you (forced kiss etc.), how is that even .... bah!" to the heroine whenever the guy is a bit too forward. I know those fantasies don't obey real life rules, but it still ends up bothering me. Apparently, if the girl secretly likes the guy that kind of stuff is okay. But how does he know! Aren't you afraid of prison!?

So I think of Tsukushi and what she would do. Kick his ass, that's what. Now there's a good shoujo heroine (yes, feminists even hate Tsukushi for being too "easy", but she's tough enough for me).

In other news I finally got Paradise Lost the higashi no eden movie. I skipped to the end to check for Saki's happily ever after. Nope, Akira runs off, GAHH. I watched them kiss, went "aww", then didn't bother to watch the movie. Man, shipping is scary shit.

'nother tangent. C, the anime... they dangle the cute Hanabi Ikuta in front of our guy, crush his hopes with her having a boyfriend, but then she's a side character!? He gets to flirt with his pokemon instead. I am sick of the trope of magical girl falls into guy's lap. What I really want to see is him (Kimimaro?) go and steal Ikuta from her boyfriend. Or at least try, and get his ass kicked. That'd be fun to watch. I don't want to watch another battle anime :<.

Recent:
Yukitatsu x Tsurumi. Like Yukiatsu because he's a creep (sensing a pattern here >_>), like Tsurumi because she knows he's a creep and still likes him <3.

Homura x Madoka. Homura is faithful, but depressed
