WARNING: If you haven't watched past episode 20 of Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha don't click the spoiler. Trust me, it's better to watch it first. ^^ The images shown and music played correspond very nicely with the lines and speech ehehhe XD
So these are the lines that were said during the scene in which Alma, the leader of that cult, talked to Hei before accepting her fate and killing herself by transforming again (since the price she has to pay is her literally the "time that she is alive")
"Why are you letting the syndicate use you?
Well, I guess the syndicate
wouldn't leave you alone.
Contractor's karma, you might call it.
Your common decency
and conscience disappear,
and you lose any hesitation
to use your ability.
Many of us have powers
that can harm people,
so inevitably, it is handy for us
to be used as killing machines.
In whatever way humans see fit."
"It sounds like you're saying
that contractors aren't human."
"That's what they think, at least.
I chose faith as my support, to free me
from the karma of being a contractor.
At first, it was just a means to
an end, to provide a cover for me.
But now, I've come
to think that it is right.
Do you know the difference
between contractors and humans?"
"Contractors have no heart."
"But is that true?"
"Contractors have no sense of guilt."
"Whether they are contractors or not,
those who commit a sin still commit them."
"The presence or absence of abilities.
That's a clear difference."
"That one is like a throwaway.
Even without abilities,
you can still take another's life
if you have a gun, or a sword.
The biggest difference
between humans and contractors is their mental makeup--
what you might call rational judgement.
Human society is set up such that
it's not those who are held back
by their emotions or common decency who succeed,
it's this who only seek their own benefit, right?
Contractors, surprisingly enough,
could be an evolved form
that will beat that system."
"Contractors don't dream."
"I have one. One where contracts and humans
are bound together, as they should be.
But I have also used
my ability to kill others.
Up to then, I didn't want to use it,
because the price was too great.
But ever since then, I've wanted
instead to keep using my power.
Just like this.
If I use my power repeatedly,
my price of aging will also be repeated.
I feel it's the least
I can do to make atonement.
Strange, isn't it? A contractor,
using a word like 'atonement'?
It appears that the last time
for me to pay my price is upon me.
