Born in 1998, I was exactly three days from turning 4 years old when this movie released. Back then I had no chance of watching this movie upon it's release. As per my memory I first got to watch this is the 3rd grade. I only have recollection of watching it, but nothing of how I felt about it. Three years later, during 6th year of schooling, I became an avid reader of fiction novels. One of the first books I read, included the masterpiece of fictional adventure genre, Treasure Island. This phenomenal story of a treasure hunt penned by Stevenson, must have made every reader crave for such an adventure. But never could I have predicted that such a plot could be turned into what is Treasure Planet. I, being a very imaginative mind, probably wouldn't have conjured up an idea to give a sci-fi makeover to this awesome plot.

First, the plot. The movie keeps the main theme and essence of the story from the source material just the same. Both in the book and the movie you'd find a young boy sailing off to a journey beyond the vast horizons, making friends with an odd lot.. There's a treasure map, a treasure and the journey and bonding of Jim and Silver.. story of pirating, plundering, betrayal and ways of the high seas.. The modifications to the ending and additions at places to the main theme of the original plot were very justified, it being an animated movie targeted at children. And everywhere the changes made the plot more beautiful, enticing and enjoyable..

The animation, the highlight of this movie. It was crucial to get that sector right in order to sell the sci-fi makeover to a traditional plot. And damn.. did they get it right. Where to start.. the animated holographic book at the very beginning? Boy did I not crave for such a book.. The airships? I have seen a lot of airships in fiction, be it from The Three Musketeers [2011] or from The Amulet visual novel series and so many more.. they are were good in their universe, but the ones in treasure planet were magnificent..
Jim skysurfing maybe later became inspiration for Ben10 to do so lol.. Then there is to mention the character design of Captain Flint. I mean he in the single most significant character but with least screen space.. but the way he was portrayed.. that face those eyes, the snake like appearance. That is the legendary space pirate even Jack Sparrow would bow down to (well he'd bow down to anyone who can kill him lol).. Ah.. I dunno where to end.. the animation of space.. the Treasure planet.. one of the best.
All other characters were made to perfection with the sci-fi theme. Silver being the cyborg with steampunk theme.. B.E.N. looks like C-3PO and I love it. The pirate crew look to the part, vicious and dangerous. And Morph.. must be the cutest alien ever. I mean Morph can solo entire universes just with the cuteness let alone the morph skill..

The movie is an entire journey. Justice done to it's every part and every aspect. I dunno why the movie failed to do well commercially. Audience can have mood swings maybe. I will say, it will remain in my book as one of Disney's finest. The times when Disney made good movies, instead of 3D movies with woke bullshit plastered in it.
Well, I am gonna go and watch it again.. and probably dream of a treasure planet of my own..
