About: The book is a novelization of the otome mobile app "Midnight Cinderella", part of the "Ikemen" series developed by CYBIRD. The concept entails the player being a commoner girl who sneaks into the palace but is unintentionally chosen as the kingdom's princess elect, and is given the long-term task of choosing one of nine handsome men to serve as prince consort with her while she learns how to be a princess.

[Anime relations: Kuroshitsuji was chosen because of resemblances, listed below. Others are other otome mobile-original games that have received adaptations.]

[Resemblances with Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler:
-Character Xeno/Byron somewhat resembles Ciel Phantomhive, having dark hair and clothes, and wearing a black eyepatch.
-The attire item "Sugar and Spice Dress" moderately resembles the dress Ciel wears in episode 4.
-Character Louis reportedly resembles Alois Trancy, having blonde hair and blue eyes, and having a slightly similar name. Both were kidnapped at an early age.
-Character Leo owns a pet parrot named Sebastian; it may be coincidence that it shares a name with Sebastian Michaelis.
-Attire pieces from the Halloween season Fashion Grab Bag event "My Darling Dracula" (Mini Bat Wings and Vampire Prince Fang Lips), combined with attire from a special sale during the season (Vampire Prince Top Hat) somewhat resemble the costume Alois wears in episode 6 of the second season.
-*Speculation* Character Albert may be inspired by William; both have dark hair, relatively light eyes, wear formal clothes including gloves and glasses, and have professional demeanors. Albert's name may also be a reference to Prince Albert, who is mentioned in accordance with Queen Victoria's appearance in episode 14.
-(Personally, I perceive character Giles's personality to be somewhat similar to Sebastian Michaelis's.)

-Resemblances between Kuroshitsuji and Midnight Cinderella's AU game, "100 Day Princess":
--Character Claude shares a name with Claude Faustus.
--*Speculation* Character Noah bears some resemblance to Aleister Chambers, having light hair in a similar style and shape, and medium-dark eyes. His name may also be a reference to Noah's Circus.]

I presume it's a novelization of the AU, which takes the characters and puts them in a modern setting at a prestigious academy.
