Anime Relations: Haikyuu!!
The Fantasy AU is officially going for a dark turn. If you read Iwaizumi's profile, you'll understand. (Oikawa ; _ ;)
Some of these facts I made up (to suit Haikyuu!!), others were based on the Powerlisting Wikia (very useful...)

k a r a s u n o

Daichi: pooka (usu. black horse, sometimes crow to represent the Karasuno safehouse)

Because the Karasuno safehouse has crow symbolism, Daichi sometimes likes to transform into a crow. Daichi is a shapeshifter: he has high stability in his shapeshifting, and has trained himself to be able to control his shifting to a higher degree of "points" (compared to the other third years at least). But once in a while, Daichi, for some reason unknown, can get horrifying when he loses control of this stability... he could look like a writhing mass of parts if not careful. Daichi has only encountered a complete loss once in his lifetime, with a few mishaps and near-loss. We still don't know why this happens; he's usually pretty stable.

Sugawara: pegasus

"I'm not giving rides."

Suga likes to pretend he is an angel: because he can control his shapeshifting to a few points, he can choose to have just wings sprout out of his body. He tricks gullible first-years (read: Hinata and Kageyama) with this.

Abilities include enhanced wisdom, enhanced agility/hearing/etc, and flight. He can also shapeshift into a human-like form, even though that isn't a recognized pegasus trait - could it do with his enhanced wisdom? No one knows, and this is noted in Takeda's notebook under abnormalities.

Asahi: phoenix

"They say that phoenix tears can heal... but when I'm sad or nervous, instead of tears, all I want to do is to throw up."

Asahi cannot die; he gets reincarnated each and every time. Karasuno is often low-key worried about this, because a reincarnated Asahi means a memory loss, so "protect Asahi at all costs" is a statement well known. It could just be a futile attempt to try and retain Azumane's memories. You'll often see the guardian deity Nishinoya by his side, one because he's so good at defense, and two... he doesn't want Asahi to forget him.

As a phoenix, abilities are as such: fire manipulation/creation, healing tears, and shapeshifting (a moderately rare trait in phoenixes). Therefore Asahi does not need help from the Second Years.

Tanaka: Western dragon

*sets the place on fire**everyone glares* T: "Ahaha... don't you guys feel a little hot? Phew, it's a bit warm in here... better take off my shirt..."

Tanaka does not have shapeshifting ability, nor his own illusion ability, and therefore relies on the Second Year Group for disguise. If the temperature warms up quickly, he's probably the reason. Tanaka, even while under illusion, cannot hide that his back feels scaly if you touch it. Luckily, no one in their right mind takes off their shirt in school, right?? Right? *nervous laugh*

Noya: Hippogriff (half eagle, half horse)

"Have a taste of these thunder claawwss!!!"

Tsukishima: "Pfft. Thunder claws."

"TSUKISHIMA!! Get under my line of vision!"

Nishinoya does not have shapeshifting/illusion abilities, and like Tanaka, rely on the Second Year Group to maintain a illusory barrier. Nishinoya is very fast. Sometimes he's here, sometimes... he's not. A very capable fighter, who serves as the guardian of Karasuno because of his high offense, his pride, and his defense as well. Nishinoya can create high winds with just his wings, which are surprisingly large for his size, and which Tsukishima comments, "defies the laws of physics." (Yachi would argue that bees defy physics too.)

Ennoshita: wizard

"No, not the ruler, please!! Help us, Daichi!!"

Part of the Second Year Group: a trio of wizards who maintain barriers around the Karasuno safehouse and maintain illusion barriers to those who don't have the ability to shapeshift/human-like form. Ennoshita is in charge of maintaining individual barriers. This is a tiring job to do, and people often ask him if that's the reason why he looks so sleepy all the time. Ennoshita tricked Noya and Tanaka once, saying that there was a special spell called the "Ruler" and it was used to punish misbehaving children. Noya and Tanaka believe this wholeheartedly. No one dares to challenge Ennoshita Chikara.

Kinoshita: wizard

Part of the Second Year Group: a trio of wizards who maintain barriers around the Karasuno safehouse and maintain illusion barriers to those who don't have the ability to shapeshift/human-like form. Kinoshita maintains the barrier around Karasuno.

Narita: wizard

Part of the Second Year Group: a trio of wizards who maintain barriers around the Karasuno safehouse and maintain illusion barriers to those who don't have the ability to shapeshift/human-like form. Narita maintains the barrier around Karasuno, and is sometimes called by Ennoshita to lend a hand in maintaining individual barriers.

Hinata: kitsune

K: "I haven't had human blood in ages, you know? It seems like I'm lucky today."
H: *intense glare*
H: *smiles*
H: "good thing I'm not human."

Hinata has a wealth of abilities, including possession, shapeshifting, illusion, dream manipulation, and fox-fire (either flame, lightning, or light). However, Hinata does not know his abilities, nor how to use them. Hinata has a very hard time coping with his powers. He tries not to let any show, as he loves the friends he has made, and does not want to lose them (he feels they would abandon him if he shows them his true form). Hinata is very good at shapeshifting, at least, and flight (sorta?).

Kageyama: vampire

"Who said all of us turn into bats?! And who said vampires just drink blood? Hah?"

H: "Eh? What else do you drink?"

K: "..."

K: *cries because milk still has the same taste but is no longer of nutritional use, meaning he's not going to get any taller by it*

H: "Kageyama..."

Kageyama is a vampire, and has a wealth of abilities including enhanced smell/sight/hearing, hypnosis, and illusion manipulation (animal mimicry, usu that of a bat). Because of the combination of hypnosis/illusion, vampires are regarded to as a highly powerful species. Kageyama is also able to "see" the trajectory he is supposed to take: much like a bat relying on echolocation, Kageyama can sense any obstacle and dodge them even down to the slight second. This is called pinpointing. Kageyama is not contagious (he gets angry when you say that) and his bites do not make humans vampires or kill them.

Kageyama survives on drinking blood. It's because vampires cannot get nutrition from digesting food, so they need direct energy/nutrition from blood to keep them alive. A childhood incident caused him to stop drinking blood for a hiatus of 2 years. Realizing he cannot survive on human food alone, he meets Hinata one day by luck... or is it a mistake?

Tsukishima: werewolf

H: "Do you howl at the moon or what?"

T: "Only people as stupid as you would do that."

H: "Shut up! I'm a fox, not a wolf! Foxes don't howl!"

Tsukishima has enhanced hearing/smell/eyesight, and shapeshifting (human form). Werewolves are more attuned to night than day, and therefore their abilities are increased dramatically in the night, especially if the moon is present, because werewolves can use the moon's (reflected) light and convert it into energy. (The sun would also be a source but as mentioned before, werewolves aren't really attuned to daylight.) as werewolves are strangely linked to the lunar cycle (??? still need a better explanation))

Yamaguchi: faun

Yamaguchi has a really calming voice, for some reason. He loves nature: which is why he can't stand seeing people die. Along with enhanced agility, balance, and endurance, Yamaguchi can induce sleep, confusion, or fear simply by singing a calming tune. It's been told that fauns can manipulate nature, too, but Yamaguchi doesn't know if he ever will, if he possessed the ability.

Kiyoko: siren

Kiyoko has seductive abilities, like Oikawa. Except that she doesn't really notice it, while Oikawa flaunts it. Oh well. Kiyoko has hypnosis: acute hypnosis if she's not speaking, but if she speaks, you'll have a hard time resisting (this ability is usually called "sweet talk" by Karasuno members) Kiyoko can also induce sleep and even paralysis to her foes. Watch out for the pretty ones. Kiyoko has a human form (partial shapeshifting).

Yachi: unicorn

Yachi doesn't know how, but apparently her horn can heal someone? Only if she sacrifices herself, of course. Yachi can transfer her life force to another's by stabbing her horn into someone's chest. Ouch. (it saves lives, though). Yachi is very nimble (enhanced speed), and is easily jittered, too. Unicorns are said to be ferocious creatures, but Yachi seems like an exception. Or is she? Yachi has a human form, via life form mimicry using her own life force energy/aura. It's her default form, though, so she doesn't really pay much attention to it.

Ukai: centaur?
Takeda: human (a professor doing his research)

Takeda is just a professor doing his research on the different species. He has a logbook full of stuff like this. He also records abnormalities, such as why Ennoshita's illusion barrier doesn't cover a portion of Tanaka's back, why Daichi has his unstable moments, why Yachi is able to retain a human-like form without trying much, etc, etc. Is Takeda scared of them? Probably. But he's genuinely interested in cryptids and mythical creatures, and besides, I guess Ukai-kun can protect him.

Oikawa: incubus

Oikawa swears on his life that he hasn't done anything indecent in his life. Unlike stereotypes, Oikawa is probably telling the truth. Many incubi take privilege in their outstanding abilities to do "indecent things, but I swear, Iwa-chan, I haven't done anything impure in my life!" (Iwaizumi replies with "That coming from you is already impure.") Oikawa has shapeshifting, hypnosis, mental manipulation, illusion manipulation, and sleep induction, thus making him very, very powerful. "Iwa-chan I'm telling the truth!!!" Hopefully he is, and he is not using his abilities for bad.

Iwaizumi: genie

As a genie/djinn, he can manipulate the rules of reality that everyone is bound to. However, to prevent others from getting greedy, djinn can only grant 3 wishes: the fourth would undo the previous 3. Iwaizumi can grant as many wishes for himself as he wants, as long as he is only manipulating himself (meaning, no wishes can be related to others). Iwaizumi is often holding this tremendous burden: what if he can't save someone, just because he cannot grant a wish relating to that person?

O: "I wish that Iwa-chan would love me!"
I: "Aren't you my friend already?"
O: "That's not what I me-"
I: "You're going to use up your three wishes, Trashikawa."

Kindaichi: hippocampi

n e k o m a

The Nekoma safehouse is different. It consists of 9 main cats, each cat representing one of 9 lives, and Kenma being the 9th life. "We keep our ninth life alive."

Whenever one of the others are in danger, the 9th one shows that by fading, as if "dying", until the one is no longer in danger. The rest of the cats are connected to other similar cat spirits. Nekoma is lucky that they've found a group of compatible 9, because if you don't know the 9th life, if the 9th life dies, the rest die too.

"YAKU-SANNNN!! KENMA'S FADINGG!!!"

"Calm down, Lev, Kenma's just trying not to stand out, stop exaggerating"

d a t e k o

Aone: yeti

Concerned that people mistaken him for a sasquatch. Aone is very strong, and can probably snap your spine into two if you are not careful. Aone does not have a human form, and relies on Dateko's spellcasters (Koganegawa, Moniwa, Futakuchi) to maintain his illusion.

s h i r a t o r i z a w a

Ushijima: griffin

Proud and strong. Ushijima is an excellent attacker, boasting enhanced vision/speed/reflexes/agility and strength. His enhanced vision (allows him to see from a far distance) is unparalleled, and so is his strength (except for maybe Aone in this case). Ushijima's strength and power is so great it is considered an abnormality in Takeda's notebook. Ushijima also has a high resistance to other abilities, described (by Tendou) as a "negate", "but that's not really it..." - Semi Eita

Shirabu: the "negate"

(Semi Eita knows. HE KNOWS.) Shirabu is almost invincible: as a negate, his sole ability is to be able to negate anything launched at him: from bullets, to attempted hypnosis. However, as much as he is powerful in this sense, he is not entirely invincible; his negating abilities require extreme focus, training, and a lot of energy. Shirabu is able to use his negate on anyone who dares attacks Ushijima (although Ushijima can probably protect himself...)
