To the shores of war we go, with valor as our guide.
Up to now I had forsworn k-on out of pure loathing. Not merely for being criminally boring, pandering, or annoyingly drawn, but for ruining Haruhi S2, and anime as a whole.
When something is too successful it causes a black hole that destroys creativity and competition in a rush (and I do begrudgingly appreciate how irresistible such a force is) to imitate the property.
Now, many years later, I am either confident enough that my dear subgenre of storytelling has weathered the storm, or my own resistance shattered through the dullness of the offerings since, that I am embarking once again on watching K-ON.
I hope I can become a fan, that it is a gateway to all that I once hated, because maybe if in fandom I can convince myself I'd rather be uninspired than alone and bored, I can do it in other things.
I really want to play baseball.
