Azumanga Daiou The Animation
I meant to originally watch this in 2015 because I knew about Nyamo's ass, other than knowing about Chiyo's dad since like 2009. If you also read the manga you'll notice when J.C.Staff inserted their own jokes, there's not many but once I realized it felt like I could tell how those wouldn't fit into the manga and they're more like J.C.Staff's brand of humor. I wonder if Kiyohiko Azuma doesn't actually like this adaptation and that's why he'll never let a Yotsuba anime be made.

Chainsaw Man
I thought it was annoying and really immature at first, like do I have to be 16 years old to tolerate hearing Denji be a horny teenager, am I already getting too old for newer shit like this? But I started liking it a little better from the last 5 episodes, but probably not enough to give a shit about picking up the manga (everyone seems to say part 2 sucks anyway). I didn't really have any problem with how it was directed first watching it without having read the manga, it's just the story I have a problem with so I don't think I'd feel any different about the manga (which makes what the director said ironic to me trying to choose this source material to make something super serious and not-anime-like or whatever he said). The CGI chainsaw head is crap though.

Dragon Ball
First long anime I went out of my way to start fully watching back in 2015. Fun adventure, I like the idea of Goku being this overpowered kid that continuously surprises people and goes up against stuff like the red ribbon army and single-handedly destroys them. He still struggles in a believable way when stronger opponents start showing up without them having to be aliens/androids. The dragon balls still mattered too since they couldn't just immediately fly to collect them all. All the tournament arcs are fun. Doesn't do the thing that annoys me about DBZ where characters have to hold off the enemy for a super long time while waiting for Goku to show up. There were only like 5 filler episodes max but I could immediately tell they sucked and skipped them.

Badly written serious plot even though the first 2 seasons are comedy, the main characters aren't in it even 5% of the time, what were they thinking. I didn't want to skip it cuz I want to watch everything in this franchise eventually but this is completely skippable. It thinks plot twists are when you secretly make every single character a phantom thief if they're related to or working with detectives. Literally, both of Alice's parents and her brother are phantom thieves, and the police girl partnered with Kokoro-chan is one too. It's one thing when it's a comedy but this is trying to be 2serious.

Hunter x Hunter (2011)
Only thing I don't like is this version pretends Kite doesn't exist until the chimera ants arc when he was there in chapter 1 of the manga and is extremely important in demonstrating to viewers what a typical hunter even is (even when I was first watching it and didn't know Kite existed I wondered why the fuck it didn't even do anything to show instead of tell what a hunter is, it ruined my initial enjoyment of the hunter exam arc until I finished the series and was able to look back on it more fondly and enjoy reading it in the manga) and why Gon wants to become one, Gon even mentions Kite at several points throughout before the chimera ants arc and the anime just had to cut those lines out. When the anime does introduce Kite I originally thought it was like some retcon asspull "oh Gon knew him all along even though there was no mention or foreshadowing". I also got more pissed off searching about this online and reading redditors (lol) justify it as "oh madhouse didn't know if the anime would make it to the chimera ants" when that didn't even need to happen for Kite to have always been important, as least the director of the anime seems to regret that choice in an interview. Another shitty justification I read was "they had to speed up the beginning of the anime because everyone in japan is already familiar with that part of the story", just lol.

Was willing to give it a chance because the voice cast is actually stacked despite not being the original voices, a bunch of them were in Higurashi and would later be in Monogatari. But the show just failed to make me any interested in it. Some episodes have confusing endings like, Iori is doing a mission in space and it's going fine until someone in the control center suddenly says it's going wrong without actually showing what did, and then her mech gets hit by missiles and it suddenly skips ahead saying she's in the hospital but will be fine and doesn't even show the mech after like if it had any damage, really confusing. Before I watched the show I went on sakugabooru and seeing some of the mech animations got me kinda hyped to check this out, it's animated well at least. I also knew there would be girl X robot romance so that made it sound interesting and out-there. But by the end I was struggling to get myself to even watch the last few episodes. At least the concept actually sounded interesting at first, the idea of using mechs for a purpose other than fighting wars, which is to send them to space to destroy moon fragments. But I've barely ever watched mecha anime so I'm not enthralled by all the control room scenes and made-up jargon. Lastly it feels like there's actually a bunch of similarities between this and Symphogear which came out later on, and Haruka's VA here voiced Miku in that (and Tsukihi in Monogatari). But there's really nothing that made me think "holy shit this is off the rails crazy, what were they smoking!" it was just boring.

Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai
I really wanted to like this but none of these characters' personal stories make sense to me? Like the writers wanted them to have some internal conflict or drama but even after some of the episodes I wouldn't be able to tell you what happened, it's written in a vague way like they wanted the character to seem like they overcame a personal struggle without the writers actually having to come up with something that meant anything. Ayumu almost being a yandere is kinda funny but also I couldn't tell you what she was even upset about other than vague jealousy? IDK. The music videos for songs are suddenly a lot more colorful and fantasy-looking like it's to appeal to children more than the 2 previous series. Kasumi is kinda just actually annoying and Setsuna feels like they tried too hard to make a cool character, it's forced.

Love Live! School Idol Project 2nd Season
Better than the 1st season but the anime just feels like wasted potential after reading the School Idol Diary manga. I wonder if the show could've benefited from being ~39 episodes like K-on is, have a slower plot so they don't become popular too quickly and then more episodes for character stories because Umi never got one when she has backstory in the light novels they could've used.

Started enjoying it a little more in the 2nd half when Saint Snow showed up but I started watching it at 1.2x speed which I normally try to never do so idk. Most of the seiyuus for Aqours don't have very distinctive character voices compared to µ's in my opinion though, which is probably why most of them don't have many other voice acting roles. They were probably selected for the franchise this time around for having more of a background or career focus in professional singing, so they don't even have a need to voice act in other stuff. Basically I'm saying if I'm reading any manga with the characters I can't recall their voices in my head and can't really tell them apart in the music either.

I liked the Ruby and Leah episode but I never came around to liking the characters as much as µ's, probably because there isn't much extra official material outside the show like the school idol diary manga. Love Live! Superstar!!
Kanon is cool and nice, I like her and I like that she's a different type of leader than previous ones, she's reluctant herself at first and not the hyperactive one pushing others to be school idols, her getting over her stage fright is a pretty easy to understand personal struggle as opposed to some other drama episodes I have a hard time even summarizing what happened. But I don't really care about Chisato or the obligatory childhood flashback stuff. Keke and Sumire can get pretty annoying. I don't like the Ren "sad" backstory that doesn't really make logical sense to me and it requires her to give a bunch of exposition about her situation, apparently it's just handwaved away by the 2nd season. Each show gets more autistic than the last because "school idols" are an entirely made up thing but each sequel seems to make them more and more popular in-universe requiring more suspension of disbelief, especially when the drama revolves around school idols specifically (as opposed to character's personal problems, at least they have that with Kanon's singing in front of an audience) and they need the obligatory character that's a hater initially. They keep insisting on making the shows like this so idk at this point. If you were a girl in this universe and you casually decided to stop doing school idol stuff not for any drama reasons, I wonder how the other characters would guilt trip you when you probably didn't think it would be a big deal lol.

MAL is wrong these episodes are 24 minutes but they just repeat the same 12 minute segment with male seiyuus instead of female and apparently with minor visual differences. But I'm only bothering to watch the female versions since they always play first. To make this more confusing there's a Repeat broadcast version that swaps seiyuus around so there's up to 4 versions of the same segments. It's cute/cool that they choose seiyuus who have voice acting connections to each other like Haruka's and Chihaya's or Nico's and Umi's. But honestly the only segments I found funny were Bob Team Epic.

Sakigake!! Otokojuku
Cool fights and sometimes funny but also BULLSHIT like 10 times they show characters dying but then they show up afterwards and survived because of ancient chinese medicine, literally had toki from HnK in a frame too. They really wanted this to replace HnK because it aired in the same timeslot the week after HnK2 ended. Also the first instance of a JOJO REFERENCE, the Principal of Otokojuku Heihachi Edajima is so badass that he's reading Battle Tendency the year it was still publishing.

The world building actually makes sense? Magic mecha idol girls who are the few that can use ancient relics so they're basically forced into working for the government and even fight alongside the military sometimes. I didn't really get "hyped" over anything though but I'll check out if the 2nd season is an improvement.

I thought I liked it when I originally watched it but that feeling dissipated into apathy over time since I had only watched very few shows at that point and I've watched a lot more now to compare it to, the whole internet is annoying about NGE so that's probably part of it.

Steins;Gate
I don't know why I hated it when I first watched it in 2018 but now I kinda love it rewatching it 5 years later? Actually teared up from episode 16 and a little from episode 17. The characters are really well written and what they go through is really meaningful to me this time, it's more important than the science fiction aspect. I really didn't like the idea of still hating this when it's Asami Imai's other major role besides Chihaya so that's why I gave it another chance.

Has a lot of meaning to me because I originally watched it on youtube some time around 2009, I didn't know what I was getting into. Besides endless eight this season felt kinda pointless because another 5 episodes are about the making of the film you already saw in the 1st season, just doesn't get the chance to advance the overall plot besides 1 other episode.

The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls
I can't tell if this show just horribly misuses the characters or they were just bad in the first place. I thought I would like Mio Honda but then episode 6 drama happens and it's like some character assassination shit lmao. Episode 7 is pathetic too with the sudden attempt to make a sad/tragic/dramatic episode with muted colors and rainy weather, everyone's acting as if someone died when it's over basically fucking nothing, and they're doing this only 1/4th of the way through the show. They have a gameshow episode like the first anime but I didn't like the characters here or find it fun and there isn't some deeper plot behind the episode like there was with Chihaya wanting more singing opportunities.

Everything's so 2serious and unfun and I don't like the characters so them just crying over something just annoys me. There's probably more I could say but I don't know how to word it so don't get mad at me because you don't understand what I'm saying, I don't care enough to write an essay. I didn't like it any better than the first season, I just wanted to finish watching this if I'm going to watch U149.

The iDOLM@STER Million Live!
I thought episode 1 started it off good but I'm not so sure about afterwards. The number of character name introductions in episode 4 with the sound effect that plays every time is fucking comedic. There's a point in episode 5 where everyone is amazed by someone blowing bubbles like are all these characters aliens or something? Episodes where the audience is mostly made up of children with their parents make this feel like a kid's show even though it definitely isn't with that swimsuit episode. Overall the episode plots aren't that interesting but it gets better when Chihaya shows up <3. It's kind of unrealistic to make an adaptation of a gacha game with 39 (or 52) characters but they wouldn't make an anime if it wasn't connected to another product they have unfortunately. Despite that I like some of the random girls I didn't know much about previously like Umi Kousaka, Fuuka, Yuriko, Noriko, Momoko (2 of those being blue). Not a single episode has an outro sequence though, like did they really need that extra minute 30 seconds for more runtime every time?
