The anime Eighty-Six is beautifully animated, yet the premise remains unnuanced. The story steals elements from the second World War, Japanese internment camps, and 1960s segregated America but switches names and faces. Although, there is an addition of new technology, mechas, and a dystopian aspect. The series does not offer new insights into people's actions or reactions in the face of oppression and adversity; the radical message is that 'racism is bad' or mistreatment divides. Unfortunately, the television show falls flat even though there are characters or action sequences to appreciate.
