Both series have characters characters that get dropped into a new world and have to learn about the politics and other info.
In Tate no Yuusha, the character is totally new as opposed to The New Gate but it's still fun.
Tate no Yuusha is a dark-ish take on the 'trapped in a fantasy world that has game like characteristics' story. So instead of it being an MMO with other players it's about integrating into a world that has leveling systems, like DanMachi or Grimgar.
