Shingeki no Kyojin

If there's one thing those two mangas share, it's the fact that both can get dark really fast - characters WILL die or get traumas from the reality that presents itself, and hope rarely presents itself in those bleak environments.
In fact, while the type of enemy is different for both mangas (Titans in Shingeki no Kyojin, 'Invaders from Space' in Bokurano), the actual nature of both opposing sides actually does get eerily similar, right to their origins, weak spots and the like.
