Those two mangas have very different stories and topics and they might not look similar at all at a first glance, however if you don't just simply look at the plot you'll definetely see many similarities..They're both very long mangas that follow the main character (or characters in Cipher's case) through a lot of evolutions in a long span of time and through different settings and location (with many encounters with great side characters along the way).
