Both share similar themes of friendship, love and sacrifice, if you enjoy one you will likely enjoy the other. They both hit you like a truck.
They both also lack typical anime tropes and so are good for non-anime fans as well while being the pinnacle of what the medium has to offer.
So this is another one of those shows riddled with out-of-this-world twists and crazy time-loop elements thrown into this chaos.
Cute little magical girls, an adorable and fluffy pet-like creature, a seemingly normal life clad with a bit of magic—what could possibly go wrong? As we inevitably find out, magic actually comes with a price. And in Puella Magi Madoka Magika, the price is GRAVE!

Both are psychological series and having to save a special friend no matter what while uncovering the truths of who are behind the mysteries they have been facing throughout their lives. Each episode makes you really think and be excite to what happens next and its twists.
