Both anime are focused on survival, and the main characters are constantly worried about betrayal. Rightfully so, I might add. Highschool of the Dead has massive amounts of ecchi and fanservice while Btooom has barely any.

full of gruesome kill scenes, amazing plots and vivid art work. These both focus on the will to survive by characters in the situations they are put in, both also focus on the male demographic (high school of the dead a lot more than Btoooom!). both are amazing and action packed and are good for a Binge watch.

hotd is pervy and btooom is more discreet about it and has a bit more respect. it pleasantly surprised me cause we know anime. now that that's out of the way, they are a bit different , yet have a similar feel. on one hand, a guy is mindlessly killing zombies, holding onto the fact that they are dead and it is justifiable to keep himself sane, while the other has a guy forced kill real live people and has actually lost his mind a few times. either way, there are deaths, gore, and boobs. hotd is less thought provoking (boo), but has more bloodshed (yay) and unnecessary fanservice   read more

In both cases, they have a romantic relationship with the main heroine, but their relationship starts off strained in the beginning and they gradually rekindle it over the course of the series. However, their relationships are quite different (Takashi and Rei are childhood sweethearts, while Ryota and Himiko are online partners who married in-game). Both anime also have the same animation studio and feature a few   read more
