Both have a female and male MC. Both have some extra terrestrial like or antagonist to fight against. They both seem to have similar story telling in which all the details are revealed throughout the series instead of an info dump on the first episode. Really only difference so far is that in Bounen, instead of mechs, its Xam'd.

Darling in the FranXX gives me a very nostalgic feeling familiar to Xam'd.

+Very likable characters beyond just the main characters,
even though there are so many mc's in FranXX
