its similar in all aspect just remove shogi from3-gatsu no Lion and add painting ypu will get blue period and this anime will not disappoint you

- MC who have problems with themselves want to fight for their dreams. Both MC have strong rivals and become friends and they have comrades who have different characteristics.
Beside that, both anime is quite related to real life, filler with teenage MC who describe today's youth, ranging from drama, school life, social and even family. sometimes has a bit of a scene that mixes between depressing and heartwarming. the important thing about this anime is to learn what the meaning of life is.
In both animes there's a protagonist that, even when their life is quite good, they feel very empty somehow, they're gonna get trought a lot of development.
Both animes touches traumas, emotional and dark moments for the characters, they have cute moments as well.
Both develop a simple art but in a good way that you can get the feelings from the characters.
