Both are sports anime with focus on japanese games, and they share a similar vibe.
Both are about striving for your dreams and achieving what is considered to be " near impossible".
Imo Sangatsu no lion is more powerful because I resonated with it more (as someone with depression), but Chihayafuru had a very similar vibe.
