Although Madoka is about a Mahou Shoujo, and FLCL is about a boy who met an alien, they are similar in that, although they believe that they live a normal life, they are dragged into a whirlpool of adventure and sadness in which their lives are changed. None of the protagonists had a choice, and the plot progression for both are incredibly fast. Both are very confusing as to what really happens to the protagonist, and how the plot moved from one place to the next.
