Both revolve mostly around a male MC who helps out each girl with her problems.
Both series are originally based off visual novels and thus have many harem aspects to them.
Both series managed to make me cry a lot so they're both successful tearjerkers.

The word 'harem' generally has a static meaning, but Grisaia no Kajitsu and Clannad redefine it. Both are stunning school romance dramas, featuring similar protagonists. They follow the same formula, dedicating a few episodes to each of the girls. Both series are effective tearjerkers and are absolutely heartbreaking.

There are a lot of similarities between both of these with a few differences storywise and character backstory too.
Grisaia is heavier in terms of violence, has less episodes and is less of a tear jerker compared to Clannad but they are both based off visual novels with the premisse of solving someone's problems about their past.
