The genre of MMORPG in anime is still very new. In respect of similarity, it would be the protagonists whom both possesses their alter ego. The dominating presence, strength, wisdom, does not waver to kill and sacrifice for the sake of achieving their goals. They are both their world's changer.

Both main characters are trying to make the world a better place.
There is political and territorial tension in both series.
Both MC are seen as evil by others.

Overpowered anti-hero/villain protagonist that hides his true identity. Goal to create a new world were their loved one(s) can be happy and live out their lives peacefully. Involves political and military struggles to achieve this goal.
Great leadership isn't the easiest thing someone can claim, despite this, great leaders Ainz and Lelouch show the best of leaders, in how to control, attack, and order.
Overlord follows overpowered Ainz in a conquer to gain information on the world he has been translocated to. Code Geass differs with Lelouch creating a rebellion, the Black Knights to defeat Britannia's rule.
Both are great action anime that doesn't overlook anything in what it means to be a leader.
