What did you think of Makoto Shinkai's First ever piece?

It's probably got the best idea of all Shinkai's movies, since they're pretty much all about lovers who are separated from each other in some way, having a couple who steadily get more separated by space and time. But in terms of how it was put together, I liked it the least out of all his films that I've seen. 5cm/s is my favourite film by him.
